Guys,

Now this is the surprise that I've been hidding under my sleeves... This 1:32 scale (54mm height) single display figure supposed to replace my failure Lt. Adnan sculpt.

Tok Janggut was the cheif and religious teacher of Pasir Putih, Kelantan (at early Malaya) a popular and much-respected man. At the age of 60s, raised the flag of rebellion in 1915 against the Imperial British colonial... tregic ending with Tok Janggut falls and the rebellion crushed.

Here are the WIP step-by-step images:

The HEAD:
I'm using Airfix multi-pose (British Desert Rat) as the basic
mannequin. Pic 'A' is the original head with Europeon feature. Pic 'B' show the resahped forehead (brows), flatern the nose and chin. Pic 'C' forming the
turban and the basic beard. Pic 'D' is the completed head.

The BODY:
The original Airfix multipose part.

Scarp off the detail.

Head fitted and in-progress colar.

Basic jacket colar pants done.

Basic "Kain pelekat" (or what did U call this?) take shape.

Detail folds added - figure 90% done. Note the baisc shape of the "keris" show at the bottom left (wire and putty).

Zoom in of the folds.

As a conclusion, I've found that scupting and conversion a 54mm figure is MUCH MUCH more faster, easier than a 120mm scale (my favourite scale).

Since I'm now waiting for the wooden base (deliver by next week curtesy from a home town friend) for the Bukit Kepong vignette, I'll start painting this little guy this week end. I think I can finish this figure in a short period of time :-D

That's all for now and comment please.

Regards,
CPTan

Wow, I taught you are going to sculpt Hang Tuah... now this is really a surprise. The beard looks good and the kain pelekat plus the folds looks really awesome. Can't wait to see the completed figure plus the keris...
What is understood need not be discussed

CPTan,

You're Kelantanese? Which part? My dad hails from London, Newcastle (Lundang, Kota Bharu, la).

I'll echo what my brother had commented.
HARMAN

My Wallet is curled up in a corner, scared, lonely and wondering when the hurting will stop....

The Wallet feels dirty, unkept fingers fondle it at all of his secret places...

The screaming starts.......

Superb Heer CPtan!! Finally something of an "orignal" theme away from those nips / us / brits :P

I just cannot resist comparing "tok janggut" with those "afghan" rebels ... seems like they were fighting for the same cause ... just different era ... ... or is it??

Thanx alot guys for the feedback and kind words...

xamel1975,
I was born in NewCastle (Kota Bharu), London is somewhere outskirt of Newcastle (U need to cross a bridge to get there... So consider U're half "anak Kelate" lar :-)

YGTan,
U're anak Kelate too. Where did U stay then?

Silantra,
Didn't got the chance to thank U with Ur fleet of U-boat covering my Bismarck on the Battle of NGB 07 the other day. Needless to say, without the U-boat support, I'm sure my Bismarck will sail to the same tregic fate. A BIG Thanx again.

dremel,
I'm still learning... but gladly to give U some pointers on figure conversion anytime.

Kuman, PoohBear,
Will post the painted figure when I'm done.

CKLoo,
This is a smaller scale (54mm) figure, hope it didn't disappoint U on it's replacement against Lt. Adnan.

SAC33,
I'd say the overall islamic outfit warrior did have some similarity with the Afghan rebel... Different era, but the same course - Freedom Fighter!!
