Quick update on using a clear coat for these. Nothing I tried worked (To include Future), but I finally got my grubby mitts on some Createx clear, and it works perfectly! Dan at Art Primo said to try a water-base clear, so I snagged a bottle of the Createx, and it goes over the chrome perfectly clear with no effect on the chrome!

Now, has anyone ever tried polishing Createx clear, and how well does it come out?
Thanks for the assist Ed!

Has anyone tried putting clear over this chrome yet? Just wondering because I would like to put some clear coat over it just so it doesn't wear off on a non-model project I'm doing.

I'm still waiting on my refill bottle (I want to airbrush it), which is supposed to be here early June. Once I have that, I've got some Cutlass bumpers ready and waiting, The Createx and Vallejo Clears are ready and waiting for my airbrush trial. As soon as I know, I'll let you all know the results.

JUNE!!!!!! I need to know now! Although being able to use an airbrush would be fantastic. Let me know how that works out and for now I'll just do some testing and see how it comes out with clear. I'm guessing I'd need to use an enamel based clear and not lacquer but who knows.

Tim, only water-based clears will work, anything else will ruin the chrome. Createx and Vallejo seem to work fine, but I've only brushed them on so far, which really doesn't work well. But they don't effect the chrome at all, so get one of them, they can be airbrushed easily. I'm not sure how well they polish up though, I've never used them before!

OK, I'll try some of those and see what happens. Thanks for the heads-up
