No, we didn't bail out on anyone...
We just found ourselves a new webhost that's completely awesome in putting up with our shenanigans, that's all: Welcome to: EDO

The short story...
Our old host went bankrupt and kicked everyone to the front lawn.

The long story...
Starting back in 2011, our old host, 110MB.com, was hit with a succession of (very successful) DDoS attacks that caused software malfunctions and data outages. Not much to fear... that is, till "that one" massive data failure finally rolled through and caused 110's servers to collapse, which shot all client-side data into next Tuesday. Pretty much nobody made it our alive... and ultimately caused our old host to file for Chapter 11 reorganization.

Anyway, we're finally done with our relocation process. Yes, we had to take our sweet time unpacking our behemoth of a PHP monster (yeah, EDO has jumped into the 21th century of HTML5). Of course we have some files that failed to make the mad dash to freedom... and we're quite aware of these problems. We'll update when those are up and running.

And a big thanks goes out to those of you who didn't leave us for dead... you should know by now a zombie is easier to kill off then EDO.

I know that feeling. I had a web provider more or less sink out from under me too, though it wasn't 110. ~headscratch. I forget now...

Glad you stuck with it, Edo's too pretty and too unique to let sink!

First off, a thank-you to all for all the positive support and kind words...!

Second, got some new updates... the last update was a translated article from a back-issue of "Anime V Magazine" that came out months before Message (sorry for the size, the person that found it sent it to me in a funny resolution size). You can read it right here.

And (as I've been hacking up a lung due to illness and haven't had much else to do) I've just, recently posted some new transcriptions (translated into English) that I read out of YST Encyclopedia:

- One is the official YST history timeline.
- The other is a four page interview with some of main staffers from the YST TV series.

Yes, I know it looks like I'm diverting, as they're not "Message" publications, per say... however, since some what these cover closely overlaps into Message territory... like inadvertently explaining why Message has "darker color pallet" then the rest of the show, design development, the history of the armors... you know, all that "long, boring, multi-page walls of text" that never seems to get translated. But, it's still all important to not skip...

And, this won't be the last, either... I plan on transcribing into English more "artbook" related source info in the future (as for which ones, I'm not very sure yet).

Oh yeah, and I also added a sub section in the "General Armor" section related to the "armor's hearts"... as in how Suzunagi's new armors actually obtain their hearts (since I've been getting e-mailed a lot about that lately... most from the Italian fandom).

PS: And before people start asking me... yes, I did read that correctly. The Mashou are officially *THAT OLD*.

Congratulations! I'm not dead.
I know, I haven't posted a site update in a while. The reason why I haven't done much updating on here is due to the cluster-waffle that Tripple-Zed Webhost [aka: 000webhost] had to put themselves through to keep themselves from going to prison (I know, I pick myself such the nicest webhosts, don't I?).

As most on here may not know (unless you have a Tripple-Zed account or just happen to follow international business news)... back in October 2016, Triple-Zed was part of the worse data breach in web-tech history - ending with the company legally testifying that they failed to notify their users that hackers accessed their servers and leaked over 13 million user accounts/passwords.

The short story: Tripple-Zed learned why it's a dumb idea to use PHP from the 1990s as legitimate security protocol and began to fix things or face legal fines/jail time. So, starting back in January, they began a mandatory migration to all their users from the old cPanel interface being used to a new one and purging all old accounts. This new protocol is a good thing, as it's far more secure (using https, modern SQL security, other boring crap nobody really cares about...).

Though I migrated back in February, I've been have some access issues. Mostly due to Tripple-Zed still working out why their root code is malfunctioning while, at the same time, tons of last-minute people scrambling due to the passing of the May 1st deadline for website owners to pack their junk up and migrate or else... which is causing lots of 502 Gateway errors for everybody.

And it doesn't really help that Tripple-Zed is using this spaz-inducing "DEACTIVATION" 404 page as a redirect. Really, brah?

As of right now, EDO is [for the most part] in complete working order. Things may be a little glitchy for a week or two (... or four, who knows). Not everything survived the Zip transfer to my new cPanel, mainly image files (but that's what my mirror-site is for). I'm quite aware of it, so there's no need to message me about it. In fact, I was getting some notifications about my URL displaying a "SITE DELETED BY USER" message for about two weeks (which was just me using a sandbox to store [and fix up] my code while I was waiting for my old "netau.net" slot to open up on the new cPanel so that I didn't have to do a mass redirect for those who had my old link... My bad!).

All I can honestly say is: If you just happen to not be able to access EDO, don't panic... it's just a Tripple-Zed ended issue. Give it an hour... and welcome back!

Allow me to offer commiseration: I was on 000, too, which is why The Call can no longer be accessed.

I really did try to wade through the 'tutorials' they put up for migrating to the new area, but whoever wrote all that out has no sense of priority and no clue how to give directions. I'm also pretty irritated that they never actually warned anyone that they were making this change; I remember the security breech very well indeed, and all I ever saw was the bit about changing passwords. I only found out about this by turning up on my site, intending to do a links check, and getting the error message.

They also failed to note in those migration tutorials that transferring over will break all your links and you'll be stuck doing a general website maintenance anyway.

So I'm moving house once again. I'm at X10, which is a very nice intuitive non-clunky space that's been around for a while and hopefully will remain that way! I'll do an update post once I've got everything shipshape again.

Oh no... you don't need web maintenance to fix all of that!!
What you need to do is after you migrate, you need to create a new sub-domain, name it after your old site's URL (that is, if they kept the old server name your site used to be on) and park it in your active account. Reset and viola, all your links work again and you don't need to change any links.

Unfortunately, the original tutorial failed to mention that once you migrate, your site is given a default URL route of --webhostapp.com (which is causing your link breakage). But once you change the name of your new nameserver back to your old nameserver's name, all that will be fixed. That's why it took me a while to get back on-line... I was waiting till they reopened the -netau.net nameserver, 'cause there's no way I'm going to change over *all* my links.

Yeah, that tutorial is pretty badly organized, isn't it (I work in computer science for a living and that made me tilt my head a little).

Well, I hope the move is working out for you! 10x isn't a bad choice (I, personally, don't care for 10x because it's not very "programmer-friendly"... and they don't support Ruby or Assembler, which 000 does). But yes, it has a intuitive setup that flow nicely. I hope everything is working out for you and that you can get your site up soon. Good luck and take care! :)

Pretty much nothing too exciting going on.

The biggest update is a complete a maintenance overhaul to the Doujinshi section. Fixed some broken code, edited of a few redundancies and got rid of some useless commands in my CSS. It's not that noticeable of a phyical change, but it'll make appear less sloppy and slightly speed up search times. I also did a organizational fix, something which you guys won't see on your end, but ends up making my life 100x easier on my side.

I also added a new doujinshi called "Our Era", which is about Ryou's reaction to loosing his armor after Kikoutei Denseteu. It's a nice one, go check it out!

These are super cute comics! Thank you for posting them! You have such a great site!

If you ever want the translations put onto the scan so the English shows up in the word bubbles, let me know.

And also, if you're interested, if I find anything Message related in my doujinshi collection, I could scan them and send them to you.

I know I haven't posted my most recent updates here (or my site, for that matter). I've been a little too preoccupied with fixing my source code. Now that Triple-Zed has entered some sort of unholy alliance with Hostinger, the former has now implemented "training wheel" features on all their clients (which, for the love of all that's good, I wish they give us the ability to TURN IT OFF). Down side is that now my source code architecture has been completely screwed up. It's not affecting WtEDO, it just that… well, it bugs me that someone is messing with personal way of formatting.

Anyways, I've got a whole bunch of *major* updates!

1.) I did a total overhaul to the navigational design found in the interview/doujinshi/multi-pages of writing/etc. sections on here. New navigation has now been updated to touch-buttons instead of traditional, inline links. This caters more to those who’ve been accessing WtEDO via larger, touch-screen devices, as I've been getting some suggestions (mainly from table users) for improvements as the old links were sometimes hard to activate when touched.

But, I'm not leaving out my old-skool tower/laptop users, as the new navigation now eliminates some of the Javascript I was running, causing less run-time errors.

2.) I changed the name of the doujinshi section, which now goes by "OVA Doujinshi".

3.) I added a new section, called "Postcard Sweepstakes". As the name implies, this section focuses on the numerous postcard [aka: hagaki] sweepstakes that Sunrise, and their partners, advertised during the sales of "Message". Due to it being a collection, it's not complete... I only have posted the advertisements that I personally own at this time. If I come across any others, new posts will be made here.

And, like any other section, if you happen to stumble across any, feel free to let me know or send them in!

4.) I've got a new entry for the OVA Doujinshi section. This time, however, it happens to be a written work (for those of you who are wondering why I've posted a 'story' to the 'doujinshi' section - not all doujinshi works are comics, as many also contain things like short stories... after all, that's what the '誌' in doujinshi means).

Well, it's a humorous piece titled "What to Understand When Going to Comiket". In short, it's a guide on how to prepare for, and what to do/not do while attending, Comiket - as acted out by the main characters found from the OVAs (with a little help from the Troopers, of course).

Plus, for younger fans that were either too young to remember 1991 or weren’t even born then, this pretty much shows that the concerns plaguing comic conventions 26 years ago are still some of the same ones seen today. Crazy how things haven’t really changed...

Seeing Touma casually smoking a cigarette while Ryo's on fire made me LOL big time. Even in this guide I love the interactions with some of the characters who've never been in the same place at the same time: like Luna and Suzunagi. Thanks for translating this and of course for the other projects you've taken so much time and effort with!
