Seeing how this board upgrade was unwanted, might I suggest a back-up forum somewhere else? In case Tapatalk ends up too ugly or unwieldy to use in the future, it could save the community to make a free Proboards back-up. Of course we'd have to leave old posts here, but we could always come back and copypasta old threads on the free board.

Just a thought. Been part of two very old Proboard communities and their interface has barely changed in ten years. (Then there's always LiveJournal, though it's a little dead.)

I'm not sure what to do at the moment. I've never been good with message boards to begin with and this new forced "upgrade" just does not have the same features as the original setup. I would be all for moving to a better board, though super sad to leave some of the really good old stuff behind. I wish there was an easier way to carry it over. I just don't know message boards very well.

Before you do anything drastic, might I suggest first asking/polling how most of SF's members access the forum.

If the majority of Samurai Fanservice members are access/posting on the forum via their phones/smart devices, then keeping Samurai Fanservice on Tapatalk's platform would be the best option. See, Tapatalk is app software that allows better access to BBs via mobile devices and makes for easier access. Plus Tapatalk allows people to access forums without having to load them in their phone's browser (which can eat up data) and, if people here on Samurai Fanservice are part of other forums that support Tapatalk (or already use the app), then all they need is one log-in and they can access every forum without having to enter in separate names/passwords.

But, if the majority of SF's access/posting through desktop and laptop computers, and if SF users seriously want something 'more customization-looking' then Tapatalk BB's bare-bones look, then moving to a 'more-traditional' style of forum might be the better solution. But, just remember that Tapatalk is *app software*, not an actual BB forum program... so other BBs that have been around since the dawn of time are enabling Tapatalk for their users. Pretty much it's is here to stay.

If you are thinking about moving, here's some traditional (and free) forum programs that cater towards desktop users, are open-sourced and have been around forever: I also like ProBoards. But, just keep in mind that it's remote hosted, which means you might not have the ability to modify the software directly, unlike what you can do with some other, more open-source, forum sites (they have Tapatalk enabled, too).

My IT opinion: If everyone is really dead-on moving SF because of the 'look', I say look for something that has customization-package that everyone would like but also and supports Tapatalk... because then everyone here on Samurai Fanservice can (in theory) use their SF name/passwords access both the new and (this) old site, no posts will have to be relocated. Then just lock all the old SF posts. Everyone can still read them. I hope something here can help.

Thanks for the feedback and all this info! This is definitely not something high on my priority list to take care of right now. I have too much else going on. I would love to hear thoughts from the few people who use this board and how it's still working for them on their computers or their phones.

Right now, my biggest pet peeve is I still have to approve all posts. I have not yet found that option in the controls where I can change it.

So please everyone share your thoughts on this. I am willing to listen and do what the members would prefer to have done.
