After a short stint with sidesaddle putting (see http://www.puttmagic.com for more information) I decided it lacked distance control so I switched back to conventional putting. However, I always seemed to hit the ball slightly to the left no matter what hand configuration I used. Finally, I had a "eureka" moment when I realized that since the putter stayed in contact with the ball for a short time the face is always closed by the time the ball leaves it. So, by lining up the putter above the center of the ball instead of to the right of the ball, my putts straightened appreciably. It's certainly strange to see the putter face slightly opened at address, but I the results of this change have been the straightest putts every.

Now, If I could just fix my reads, alignment, and speed my putting will be perfect. Ha!

And that is exactly the reason I do. I would pull or push putts when putting normally but with the side saddle method I could see the line and hit the putt where I wanted it to go. You might want to revisit the side saddle method again as I an convinced that it is the best way by far to putt the ball on the greens.

Stan,

What putter are you using to putt sidesaddle?

I have about 15 different putters that I have set up for side saddle putting but right now I am using a 48 inch stock B90 Ping putter. Here is a web site that is all about side saddle putting http://puttmagic.com/golf11.htm
