Taiwan just won their CTFA International tournament rather convincingly, despite East Timor's travel problems meaning Taiwan had to play 3 matches in 3 days.

3.12 Taiwan 3-0 Philippines
4.12 Taiwan 3-1 East Timor
5.12 Taiwan 2-0 Laos

There seems to have been a rapid improvement of Taiwan's fortunes, as evidenced by these results, and also their unexpected victories away to Singapore and at home to Bahrain, and draw away to Vietnam earlier this year.

Completely agree with you. Honestly, a lot has to be contributed to the coach of the team, Gary White. He was the same coach that led Guam for a couple years, including the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. He developed Guam into a relatively respectable squad, and seems to be having similar success with Taiwan. I can only imagine a lot of teams would love his service...

Interesting suggestion but earlier today it was indirectly nixed. Not sure how passion can be a prerequisite whilst Giggs is a contender though.

Anyway, the headline claim I guess is coming from the right place when you read on but still comes off as more than a tad xenophobic, an entire country's pool of coaches shouldn't be entirely dismissed just from a bad experience with Bobby Gould.

They could have just said "our next coach definitely won't be Bobby Gould."

I wonder if the criteria excludes 'foreigner who used to coach England'?
