Tibet was invited by the German club SV Lörrach-Brombach (close to Basel) for a friendly.
To be on the safe side, they asked for a permission from the local FA (Südbadischer Fußballverband, SBFV).
The SBFV President approved the match and approved that SV Lörrach-Brombach can go ahead planning.
A few weeks later, when planning was much advanced, he called the club again to inform him that he checked back with the German FA leadership, which decided to forbid the match to not cause any problems for the current German-Chinese cooperation in football.

It's a pity that everybody sucks up to China for financial reasons.

I am quite pleased that "Mrs May" translates as "Plum Lady" in Chinese.

Well her idol was said to be made of iron so that name seems accurate on a number of levels (apart from the level where 'plum' is a word for 'good').

And in the interests of transparency the phrase I ran through Google Translate was "Mrs. Theresa May", didn't bother looking to see what "特蕾莎·梅夫人" would come back out as in English but I can assume parts get lost along the way through this method:

It's particularly fun trying to reverse translate phonetic Chinese transcriptions of e.g. foreign football clubs back into "English" and trying to deduce what club it was.

Mind you, it's also not impossible that Google's translator is working along xenophobic lines, as in this example from a few years ago.

It depends what you mean by off topic, I suppose.  The original topic concerns a match which never happened, so if the topic is strictly about that particular match then it is a dead duck.

However, if the topic can also be about either of the two teams involved, or conversation resulting from the reasons why the match was cancelled, then we're probably OK.  Each post here has followed on from the previous one, much the same way as if we were all sitting round a table in a pub having a chat.   But I appreciate that not everybody likes to chat in pubs.

By the way, should it be "SV Lörrach" as in your first post, or "FV Lörrach" as in your source?

I like to chat in pubs or on fora (what is the difference?) but Tibet is part of China and this item must be in the east asia topic:)

I think the Tibet team (diaspora team) referred to in this topic is quite keen that Tibet should not be considered part of China.   Also, the association which runs the team is based in India.

I am surprised to see that CONIFAGenSec "liked" this post, given that the same Tibet association is a member of ConIFA.

Look I love “arguments” and going back and forth with one another as much as the next guy, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. I know no one asked, but I’m completely unbiased here. As for the pub talk sometimes in this forum, I totally agree with Sascha that it does get annoying sometimes when conversations go on for awhile and bring nothing relevant to the forum. When I started here it bothered me too. However, on the other side of it, I understand it’s a public forum so if you don’t want to see it then just simply don’t come here. My recommendation to you Sascha, is to just go awhile without looking at that particular topic with the pub talk so it doesn’t get you angry. At the end of the day it’s a free forum that’s open to public, so your going to have irrelevant conversations from time to time.

As for how you’ve been going about this forum the past two weeks Sascha, I really have to disagree with you. I’m not saying this to criticize you in anyway, it’s just how I’ve see it. There’s a lot better ways you could have gone about trying to get changes to the forum. For example, you could have listed your issues in one section only. If this I mean you didn’t have to go from section to section pointing things out and criticizing the forum.

You and I in the past have agreed Roonba can come off as arrogant and snarky. In my opinion, that’s honestly how you were coming off. Sometimes his tone really pisses me off too trust me. Sometimes you can’t even give an opinion or fact without it being deferred or pushed down. That’s just the way it is though, and it seems your having a really tough time with that and criticism you’ve received in general.

I’d recommend either taking a step back from the forum for alittle bit or just Really try to not let things get to you so much. I do know that if you continue what your doing in the way your doing it, your going to continue getting mad because nothing is going to change. Again, not criticizing you, I’m just trying to help. Alittle food for thought

Thanks for your thoughtful post, Eagles.

I agree, I should have raised it all in a longer list in the suggestions forum, indeed. Someone made me aware of that and I then did so, albeit in German, as I'm sick of getting mocked for any tiny typo and grammatical sloppiness.

I do usually ignore much of the pub tall already. I just thought, days after I was told that most threads do indeed stick to the topic, it would be helpful to once demonstrate how far from being true that is.
As said in other points, I do disagree, as I think it's not beneficial for anyone, but I accept that staying to a topic isn't of relevance for the Admins.

In general, though, don't worry. I'm not letting it get to me very much. I'm fine ;)

But thanks again - and also thanks for the criticism. Appreciate it and will indeed re-think once again.

"You and I in the past have agreed Roonba can come off as arrogant and snarky........."

What to you may be arrogant is to someone else confidence that that person is right.  We discussed this before - "arrogance" comes later when other avenues of normal conversation break down due to the other person either not giving decent answers, or giving false or lazy answers.  "Snarky" was entirely justified - especially as a result of Sascha's belligerence in the last week or so.

"Sometimes you can’t even give an opinion or fact without it being deferred or pushed down."

This never happens - all opinions are welcome on this forum, and always have been.  Only when facts are in fact not true will there be any criticism (or correction).

So why are you the first one to complain?  Most threads do indeed stick to the topic - you demonstrated nothing except that a very small part of the forum had a few off-topic comments.  The simplest thing to do is to just bring it back on topic.  It's happened in every forum that I've ever visited.  I'm not going to restrict people's rights to go off-topic if they so desire, as long as it doesn't become THE feature of the forum.  So once again, it is not "far from being true".  Just stop talking crap.  Just use the bloody Search function if you want to find something, for God's sake...

As I said before, the only reason you came on here bitching was because you were stung by the criticism levelled at you and your organisation before, and you couldn't let it go.  You are just making a fool of yourself pretending otherwise.

OK, let me break this down for you, as you are having difficulty understanding.

1. 4-team round-robin - this was in reference to your original post, where you said you were not sure of the format.  I answered the question.
2. Results on my website - I was pointing out that the results were already on the site, and also that they were in the correct order (unlike your list in the original post).  Both of these things are true.
3. I was pointing out that it's not necessary to say "La" before Réunion.  This was just an observation.
4. I gave additional info (in your original post you said it was Réunion's first ever futsal matches - I added that it was also the first ever matches of Comoros and Mauritius).  I therefore improved on your original post.

I make no apology if this sounds snarky or arrogant or rude, but what the fuck is your problem with what I posted?  For fuck's sake, get a grip...  I'm losing my patience with you, severely.

Stop pretending to know me. Stop pretending you know what drives me. And please stop being so insulting. Thanks.

I laid out what I thing is done horribly wrong by the Admins. You decide you appreciate those things, in particular. So I can agree to disagree. A pity you just can't.

Not the fault of the people it's being targeted at, but the icons next to their names in the screenshot aren't exactly great PR.

Anyway I look forward to the arrival of CONIFASecGen in the not-too-distant future, then this battle can continue... 🙄

Agree and admit that arrogant was the wrong term to use so my apologies. I do remember having that conversation with you about that. Don’t have an issue with you at all Roonba (it’s mark btw, right?). I don’t have an issue with anybody, even Sascha.

I think he just needs to take a step back and break from the forum for alittle bit so he can calm down and relax. Because what he was doing wasn’t going to be good for anybody, especially himself.

In terms of opinions being pushed down, I feel that has happened from time to time. If it has happened, it honestly isn’t a big deal. At the same time, maybe that’s myself taking something being said out of context (which is absolutely very possible). As I’ve said before on this forum, sometimes it’s very hard to tell a so called “tone” due to text. Either way, it’s all good.

In my opinion, I see very minimal issues with this forum overall. I can’t complain because I know I couldn’t have set this forum up myself.

Eagles19 wrote:I totally agree with Sascha that it does get annoying sometimes when conversations go on for awhile and bring nothing relevant to the forum.
But who decides what is relevant?

Depending on which thread you click on, you will find anything ranging from detailed discussion about which substitutes played in a 1968 Olympic qualifier, to mathematical analysis of simulations of hypothetical World Cup formats, to quiz questions about English clubs from 1863, to speculation about Kyrgyzstan's chances in the Asian Cup, to previous matches between Saint-Martin and Sint-Maarten.  There aren't all that many people who would find *all* of that relevant.  Indeed, there aren't all that many people who would find *any* of that relevant :-)

This is a small informal forum with a small number of regular users, many of whom are active only in one particular field, so the amount of cross-talk is relatively small.  Some of the users make jokes, asides, or post random videos etc.  That isn't necessarily irrelevant, if it follows on from something that has been said before.  Some people find it annoying, OK, but it's a jump from being annoyted to asking for other people's posts to be deleted, and for users to be banned, and to make proposals that the entire forum be restructured with new rules to fit your own personal preference.

A simple and obvious compromise could be for the people who prefer things to be "stricter" to simply state in their first post in a new discussion that they would prefer it if people don't post in that particular discussion with jokes, or videos, or whatever it is that annoys them on any given day of the week.  Though whether other people then decide to respect that request would be mostly up to them.

I understand it’s a public forum so if you don’t want to see it then just simply don’t come here.
It's more a case of "if you don't want to see it then scroll down."  You can't expect to see only what you want to see, and you can scroll down past the bits you don't feel like reading, much like skipping tracks on a record, or turning pages in a newspaper, whatever analogy works for you.
