Kurdistan apparently preparing for CONIFA World Cup, even though they say it is "100% hopeless" that they will be able to go due to visa complications, and due to not even being included in the draw.

Despite announcement of the tournament’s group draws on January 6, Kanabi noted that the preparations of Kurdistan’s team for the tournament [CONIFA World Cup] will continue; adding that after the end of local football leagues a strong team will be formed.
Moreover, according to Kanabi, the Kurdistan team expected to fly to South Korea and Japan in December of this year to play two friendly matches there.

I wonder who they are scheduled to play in December?  Both CONIFA members in that area are based in Japan (Koreans in Japan AND Ryukyu).

There is still no confirmation that Kiribati will not go to Yap.  The organisers are waiting for both Nauru and Kiribati to submit their team lists.

In any case, it's possible Kiribati may decide to play in one tournament, and if they have decided to go to London, then they wouldn't have money to go to Yap as well.

It's a shame Occitania can't make it - they got the 3rd highest points total in qualification, and were the top-ranked team in CONIFA.  Did they not want to participate?  Within Asia, Ryukyu are ahead of Kurdistan (as the only other team in Asia apart from Panjab and Koreans in Japan that had any qualification matches).

Does the replacement have to be from the same continent?  (at least, first dibs)

We would love to go...
Alas we didn't qualify through the system.

It's strange that only teams participating on the WC appear on the ConIFA ranking top page :

Yes I thought that was strange too.   Probably a deliberate choice to simplify things for the media in the run up to the WFC, perhaps because it would be a bit confusing that the top team in the rankings didn't qualify, but there should still be a disclaimer about that ranking being a subset only.

The secondary list titled "All [sic] national teams outside FIFA" in a smaller font contains the other ConIFA members.   Sadly Occitania was a victim of a really inexplicable qualification system.

I think there was/is a big need of a system of qualification.
Because it was the first time they created it, it was confusing and sudden for all of us i guess but i'm sure it will improve in the future.

It's a bit a shame to not include other non-FIFA non-ConIFA teams (how could we call them ahah ?).

A system, yes.  That system, no way!   Look at how Tamil Eelam qualified for example.  I don't agree that the "first time" is any justification for the bizarre system, which was still being changed during the process.
