I know I was supposed to fix up Rugby Union and finish Handball, but I needed a break after entering all those matches for Rugby Union and Water Polo... and then after a little while I realized it was almost time for Olympic Ice Hockey, so I finished these first. I'll get to the others after this.

Thanks to the Summit Series and Canada Cup I was able to eliminate almost all problems regarding player eligibility for certain countries that were allowed to use full time athletes, and therefore giving them a huge advantage.

Soon I'll be adding a small tweak where huge differences in score will award the victor and punish the loser with a higher k-factor

I believe that some countries may be slightly suffering unrealistically in rating from the World Championships, I don't know enough about it though to make any changes yet. I'm pretty sure Sweden and Finland may be slightly suffering from this.

All Time Rankings: I'm having too many historic and mathematical problems with this, so I'm going to be replacing it with something more accurate soon. For now please ignore it.

Here are the years that full time NHL players were available (at least for the main countries involved):

1976: http://internationalsports.nfshost.com/ ... ts/52/1976

*matches before the 1960s do not seem to be impacted much by the amateur vs. full time athlete problem.

A friendly suggestion - as the title of this topic suggests (to me) all-time rankings, perhaps adjust it slightly?

What did you have in mind? My idea is going to be to have 3 eras that will combine the following years, olden days (pre-1946), cold war 1946-1991, and current times (post 1991).

The main problem with All Time rankings I'm having is that numbers have different values in different eras. For example, Canada in ice hockey dominated the sport more in the early days but was achieving lower numbers then than they do now. I'm pretty sure Canada would get first place in each separate era, or very close to it, while in All time they are in 3rd.

Another problem is changing countries. Usually if a bigger country breaks a part the smaller countries play at roughly the same level, but that's not always the case. While for some it may make sense to have Czechia as a continuation of Czechoslovakia, in some instances this will not work. For instance, in basketball, Lithuania would then have to share a score with the Soviet Union, which would lower their over all score unrealistically.

But isn't that a problem with all-time rankings in any sport?

Yeah, I'm changing it for all sports.
