Does anybody have dates for this tour in July 1990?
North California 0-0 Fiji
North California 2-2 Fiji
San Francisco XI 0-3 Fiji

Possibly other games were also played.

Have you tried to consult La Opinión from July 1990? It's a Californian newspaper.

Not yet. I have a very slow internet connection at the moment. Also there was some minor tournament happening in Italy in that period which may have attracted more coverage.

Yes. Teams cannot play more than 2 matches in a FIFA window (first match against Vanuatu is outside FIFA window, second match is inside). I guess they did not want to travel to Solomon Islands for only one match. Solomon Islands want to play the 2 matches against Fiji some time in 2016.

Once again FIFA hampers football in this region. All those Fijians playing for Barcelona would be too tired by their long flights.

Interesting article from Fiji.  Interesting in that it makes no sense at all.

"In every FIFA window we are going to play international friendly matches and it costs us about $100,000 every month and we want to put our resources in that so we can play a number of matches," he said.

"We have already played seven matches and then in October we will play have another two matches and another one in November and then six matches in the Pacific Mini Games. We might play 16 matches altogether this year.

"We want to keep the momentum going in 2018 and fans criticising Fiji FA should know that these matches would cost us heaps of money, but we want to save money and invest in the national team and improve our ranking."

So - by spending $100,000 every month playing friendly matches, the Fiji FA plan to save money.

That's certainly a new approach.  Spending to save...

Philippines confirm a friendly on 22.3 against Fiji.

So Fiji are definitely not going to Tahiti (although Fiji news says they are working on arranging other friendly matches).

Only place I've seen anything about the tournament is the New Caledonia FA website.
