The following pictures are, in my opinion, definitely interesting. They show the Australian performance in the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup, where they won the silver medal. This is the best result ever reached by an Oceanian team in a FIFA competition.

Thanks to Twitter, I was able to discover probably the only photos available about the first continental triumph for Australia (the 1980 Oceania Cup). The source was the magazine Soccer Action (unfortunately I can't specify the exact issue) and they were taken by Mrs. Ute Gutendorf, the wife of Australia's coach Rudi Gutendorf.

This is probably the only existing picture about Australia's triumph at the 1996 OFC Nations Cup, their second continental success after the one from 1980. The quality is not perfect, as I fished it out from this video.
The player pictured is captain Paul Wade, after his 84th and last cap for the Socceroos.
