Why do people even bother with wikipedia? It's full of crap.
Bids to host the 2019 Pacific Games were lodged with the Pacific Games Council on 18 April, precisely six months prior to the winner being decided at the PGC's annual general meeting in Wallis & Futuna.
The Pacific Games Associations of Tahiti and Tonga are the two candidates, who are both to be congratulated on the production of their official bid documents.

Same reason why McDonalds is world's most popular restaurant.
Quickness, convenience, omnipresence beats quality and content.

Perhaps even more frustrating is why people bother editing Wiki with clearly false information.

So, Tonga should host the 2019 Games - and New Zealand is being allowed to compete in the men's football tournament. Not sure what kind of team they will take

Australia is not being allowed to play in the football competition, (apparently because they are AFC members - but Guam are AFC members and they are allowed to compete).

Wonder what kind of shambolic lobotomy we can expect from OFC this time.

Speaking of shambolic, are Micronesia still on to take part in the next tournament?

Tonga don't want to host now - Pacific Games COuncil have told them their agreement is binding, so even if they move the Pacific Games to another country, Tonga will still have to pay all the costs of hosting. Oh dear...

Don’t know how I️ feel about Hawaii potentially joining the Pacific Games. As a state of the United States, they are not a territory like NMI, Guam, American Samoa. Yes, they are located in the Pacific, but I️ don’t understand why they would be included.

In that specific article or another one I️ read, they were saying that NZ and Australia would only send representatives to participate in sports that the other island nations were very strong in. I️ think they used weightlifting and rugby sevens as an example.

Honestly I️ think that’s fair and makes sense. In my opinion, NZ and Australia would dominate a lot of other sports. Could be wrong though

An Australian team did try to enter the football event in 1975.  Maybe in other sports there have been the occasional antipodean interlopers?

This is random and I couldn’t find an answer anywhere. But does anyone know if 2019 will be a U-23 competition like it was in 2015? Would be a shame if that’s the case

If it's an Olympics Qualifier it might be that way, would make sense from that angle.

I really hope not.  OFC are a long way off from a "nations league" as the other continents are setting up, so the islanders need all the action they can get.
