Ham too salty? Remedy: Soak your ham for three days, changing water each day (ham can be frozen - just put it in the water - it will thaw and start desalting as it thaws). Be sure to keep ham cold. After soaking your ham, put cloves in ham, and bake for ONLY 1 and 1/2 hours. Ham is already fully cooked - you only want to warm it through. You will not be thirsty all day/night from a salty ham!! I am 63 and have done this trick all my life - works like a charm!

I do this also. I am roasting ham shanks tonight and have been soaking them for 3 days now. It makes a big difference.
