With the newly released movie (http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/WoW/movies/), I have to ask this.

Will the RB crew be getting World of Warcraft?

This is the first, and probably the ONLY MMORPG I am psyched about. I have never been fond of the pay-to-polay, and the implementation of most MMOs to date have just fallen short. WoW looks to be able to change all that, at least for me. What does everyone think?

Yes, yes, I know you have a WoW page, but you also have a NWN page and a War3 page. :P Virtually no interest or exposure. Is WoW gonna be similar, or are people looking forward to it?

Pay a monthly fee for the privledge of enjoying the usual b.net pubbies on a larger scale... or stick with a private group of friends in a non-monthly fee non-Massively Multiplayer game.... think I'll pass on the first option. :p

Of course I'm still not cutting Blizz slack over the BnetD thing, so my opinion is probably invalid anyway.

...no one's opinion is invalid, IMHO. And, for what it's worth, I don't blame you for "not cutting them slack on BNetD".

I must admit, the "usual B.Net crowd" will be a concern for me, but think of how fewer people like that there will be with pay-to-play. It does, however, raise one interesting question: how will Blizzard handle problems? Banning customers = less income. I wonder if that will be enough incentive for them to be increasingly lenient, or if, because of the very nature of it all, they'll be more apt to enforce rules. Who knows.

Like I said, this is the first MMO I'm actually interested in, and it keeps getting better the more time goes on. Whether I'll end up in it or not remains to be seen, which is one reason why I'd like to know if anyone else is even considering getting the game. Bliz is on shaky ground with alot of people, I know. I just wonder how well they'll be able to pull this off. I like what I see, but what I've seen ain't much. :/

Anyway, as per my original post, I just had to pose the question. No harm done if you won't be getting it. That's why I asked: to find out.

It's just as much a problem there as it is on Bnet, if not more. The "adolescent, immature, and proud of it" set get their folks to pay, just like they get their folks to pay for their regular games. Then there's the fact that most of the truly immature people on Bnet aren't physically adolescent at all -- just socially.

I very much doubt that Bliz would be any more harsh on griefers or other obnoxious sorts than they are on Bnet, or than other MMORPGs are in general, which is to say not much at all.

Certainly raises interesting thought. With Battle.Net, we have private games. Our refuge from the public. With an MMORPG... we have what, exactly? An interesting question, and one I hope Blizzard addresses. As well, will there be a Single Player experience? If not, that severely cuts down on my appeal for WoW. But, we shall see what happens.

Even though I risk being irritated by griefers, I am confident that my social skills are such as to be able to find an enjoyable group of folks to play with, even if most of the RB crowd chooses not to 'pay to play.'

I have some adult friends in ALE who are a hoot to play with, fun and funny, so I will hope, from a personal level, to merge my pool of friends, at least on that front. New friends are fun.

However, I know nothing abot WoW other than "pretty pictures..." so if you are still excited about it once it arrives, I'll give it a go too.

I'm too moo'ved right now by certain games to drool at others. Morrowind, Moo3, ah such goodies. MoooOooOO

Hi,

Unfortunately, the hype for upcoming games seems to be much better than the game itself when released. So I'll wait till the game itself is out and some people I trust (like the Lurkers and the variant scum) give it a thumbs up after more than a week of playing it.

WoW has two strikes against it going in: I don't much care for the WarCraft universe and it is going to be pay to play. So I'm not even sure if I'll give it a fair chance.

We need a good multiplayer coop game.

Problem with WC3 is it fell behind NwN's release. And the ones who got the game don't seem to want to talk about it on this board. Oh well.

If you aren't paying a monthly fee for someone to run the servers to support a massive world, whereby huge numbers of total strangers can interact in an alternate reality....

Just what is the monthly fee for?

If all I want is new content, I think the modding communities provide that well enough. The only new thing an MMORPG can do for me is to be MASSIVELY multiplayer.

The montly fee is probably worth something for some other reason(s), just not ones that I am aware of. Anyway, the day an MMORPG actually makes strangers worth interacting with, in a convincing world, is the day I'll pay a monthly fee.

I have heard that Blizzard was playing with some "instancing" feature where a group of players could create a private instance of an area, dungeon, etc. It seems a bit counter to the whole point of Massively Multiplayer though.
