I hope you all enjoyed this one. You have until the end of Monday May 12 to finish playing, and until Tuesday to post results.

Happy Mother's Day to Gris and all the other mothers out there.

It was a ton of fun to play, I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did. Now bring on the other reports!

Very well played, of course. Managing conquest of that pangaea without resorting to rails and artillery was quite a feat.

The index page gave away your finish date, and I had to wonder how it was so fast. Having all three northern civs fighting each other was about the best thing you could ask for in that department. Mongolia in my game had iron; they weren't exactly a superpower but held me off from attacking them for quite a while. Add to that a healthy India, and all three civs were in Golden Age in my game while you were ripping them apart in yours. Egypt and Babylon did go to war early in my game, but Babylon won it pretty thoroughly to become more powerful themselves, and in any case I couldn't take advantage of a weak Egypt with Babylon and the Iroquois between me and them. Couldn't ask for a better setup than your weak Mongolia right on your doorstep.

Has anyone here even gotten more than 2727g from capturing an enemy city before?

I got 3840 from one city in this game

Again, well played, and I'll be quite surprised if anyone beats it by more than a handful of turns. :D

A mighty fine report. I only wish that I had PTW to be able to play....

Nice win, and very early at that. Congratulations

Superb work, Sulla. I would compare your result here to mine in Epic Four in terms of making all the right moves, catching the breaks, and storming on to a very early finish. I'm impressed.

Can anyone have topped this result?

OK, I was going to wait and let a few other reports take center stage, but Sulla seems to have already done that, and since everybody's already lining up to comment and probably wants more to read, here's mine.

I was thinking the same thing myself when wrapping up the game. Sure I played a good game, but literally everything fell into the right place at the right time for me to win so early. From the AI civs in the north at each other's throats in BC years, to the delayed contact with India so I could get the full world map, to the final deliberate delay on picking up Magnetism to keep the AI civs out of the Industrial Age... It all went perfectly. I even said on the last page of my report that I couldn't have planned it better myself, which was almost verbatim from what you said on the last page of your Epic 4 report. And I did have that game in mind when I wrote the line.

Truly great games are the combination of excellent play and a fair dose of luck. I hope that this game will be able to rank in that category in time. We'll see.

I found it difficult to write a report that did my game justice. My feeble attempt can be found at http://www.kalikokottage.com/sirp/ming/ming.html

I bow down before your superior effort Sirp! Once again I find that my best effort is significantly outproduced by an even better one from someone else. Excellent job, and I will have more to say tomorrow when I am not so tired.
