Hi all,

I'm currently an AS Design and Technology student and a keen sailior, and am seriously thinking of building an RS750 for my manufacturing project this term. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of how many hours it takes to build one of these? (i appreciate it does vary from person to person) because as I mentioned above, I have to make sure it is feasible to build in this school term (about 13 weeks of build time)

Also just out of interest, what sort of wind range can you sail an RS750 in?

Many thanks!

I have just finished one which took me a year and a half, but I took it slow, and only had time to work on it in the weekends after all the chores were done. If you devote a term to it you'll have fun and get plenty of time to do everything.

Just make sure you read ahead and source everything well ahead of time. I found the mast quite hard to find (eventually got an aluminium specialist who had something close enough.) Also getting draughting paper at the size required was tricky.

I also had to learn a lot (like using resins, fibreglassing, installing the electrics), Though most of this is pretty easy to get the hang of.

I say do it, you'll love it
