Hi Team,

Just thinking about the mould for the 1m boat we are building. I had a go at hand carving the bulb and it turn out . . . . well, it's in the bin :D

Is there anyone out there that has a mould or could turn a plug for me?

Cheers

Jamie

I'm in the UK so a bit far for practical help!

If you can't carve the plug successfully, you could use a different technique by moulding the plug from modelling clay.
You can always stiffen it up to keep it straight by moulding it around a piece of dowel.
I once made a plug from wood which resulted in an underweight lead so I covered the plug with modelling clay and rolled it on a board to get the right shape and size.

You could google wood lathe with a power drill. You will find some simple set ups to match what you have around and with a bulb it would be easy to shape, especially being a one off.........

Well thats my 2 cents worth.....

hi,
I live in Orewa Auckland and have plugs and moulds for both the 750 sparrow and 2 plugs and moulds for a 1 meter version of the 650. They are 2 kgs and 2.4 kgs in weight. Also have access to a mould for the 1 meter sparrow.
If anyone is interested I have two fibreglass yacht moulds for the 750 with deck moulds. Another fibreglass mould for a 1meter version of the sparrow 650 which I sail regularly. Sails great.
Also available is my sail making jig. Using mylar from Australia it makes great sails.
If you live nearby I am happy to share my info.
Cheers

Hi Paul,

What size bulb is it? For a 1m?

If it is I would be dead keen.

Thanks

Jamie

It looks like he has bulbs for a 750 and a 1 meter, I'd email him with the address above.
