Display cradle and plans

I wanted to be able to display my Sparrow in the study instead of her being locked away in the shed, but the crappy stool with a hole cut in it I was using for a cradle was not suitable (in the opinion of my household) for display.
I went a head and designed a cradle which I was lucky enough to have a friend machine from an autocad file I created. It is designed with inverted curves to acomodate the boat right on bulkheads C and F. then connected with 4 lengths of dowel, and the boat fits like a glove!
If anyone would like to make one of these themselves, I can email the autocad file and/or scale pdf to print out and jigsaw.

And I was so impressed with your other solution! I was literally going to go thrift shopping to pick up one of those chairs today.

But your new design is quite choice, would you mind sending me the plans?

I've been building my sparrow for about 3 years now, slow progress between university work and moving so often. Anytime I have spare time it seems to be raining and I work outside.

Finally nearing completion now that I've become happy enough with the finish work, Just the rigging out to go.

Hi SheffMatt,

Yep the camping stool solution is great for use at the lake/lagoon when sailing, but not for mantlepiece display. Great to have both.

I tried to pm the design to you, but the file types (pdf & dwg) were not allowed. Reply here with your email address or private message it to me and I can email you the files. Same applies to anyone else interested :D

Looks great... Like the way you use the bulkhead as mounting points.
But I will have to post mine stand ...must take photo first....soon

Not a great pic but you get the idea
Made from 1/2" 12mm square timber
Only use it on the desk as it is does not let the boat roll when working on it like my strap one.
My boat goes from stand to car to water and back,,,do not own a mantlepiece
