Just know, don't quit just because your husband quit.......quit because YOU WANT TO QUIT for YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're not ready, it can fail. There is no magic bullet, no secret other than hating smoking bad enough to know that your wanting to quit is greater than your desire for a cig. And since smoking IS an addiction..........we will fight that common sense every way we can until we are ready to accept the truth. You can do this Sammie. You have to want it. Be willing to suffer and do the work, and CHOOSE not to smoke no matter WHAT!!!!!!!!!! And if you do this.........and REALLY WANT to quit..........you will do it!!! Not easy at all!! but doable for sure!!! IF you want to set yourself free!!

Welcome to BV!!! Not as busy as it once was.............but the "good" ole days aren't always here!

Glad you are here!!

I totally get what you're saying about being ready to quit. Years ago I quit for two years and I remember how hard it was and I also remember the thing that helped me a WHOLE lot was the encouragement. I found from a group of quitters on the Internet. I love what you said "be willing to suffer and do the work". That totally sums it up. I think I have tried almost every way there is to quit and if you don't have your head wrapped around it, it just wont work. That is why I didn't try when my husband did...I knew I had a lot of preparation to do. I guess everyone is different in what works for them, he just decided that's it I'm done. I know that doesn't work for me. I can't have cigarettes around me and all ashtrays need to be removed (meaning mine, not his). Thanks for responding Marsha and now on to do more homework.

back! EVER! Unless you want to see what a slave and how addicted you were to nicotine and smoking. Freedom is there! You quit for 2 years! That is awesome!!! You can quit for 100 years if you choose to!! It all depends on how important it is for YOU to quit. Smoking is nothing to toy with. It is a killer and addicts love to deny the truth for as long as they can. Sometimes it's too late. Glad you are here and choosing life Sammie. It's not corny. It's real.

I smoked for 32 years & was up to at least 2 packs a day. I tried & failed a few times. I had a really tough time & it just seemed impossible for me to quit & stay quit. I am grateful every day that I don`t smoke & feel so bad for those still smoking. I don`t miss smoking & I am very comfortable & happy with not smoking. I didn`t really want to quit, it was more trying to prove to myself that "See, I made my attempts to quit & I can`t. Now leave me alone." the support I got was so great. I couldn`t do it alone. I hope I can be of help to you. Kathyb

Tomorrow is the day. I'm feeling pretty good about it this time around. I have a really silly question. I get these in email, but I cannot find the forum? I find other threads but not this one with the others...what am I doing wrong?

Each time I post I have a choice to check a box that says "send replies to my email" so if someone replies to my post it should show up in my email IF I checked off the box. I have this forum bookmarked as a favorite and that`s how I find it. I guess I should check off that box too as a quick way of seeing replies. I`m a believer in prayer so will be praying for you often for success in your quit Sammie. Will check in b4 noon if able. Kathyb
