Sadly, my ability to photograph things has not improved. Still, I will do my best to show off my new stuff here. Let's kick things off here.

Parts List
Head: Slayer Design Studio
Torso: Slayer Design Studio
Upper Arms: Lady Jaye (Revenge of Cobra DVD Set)
Lower Arms: Cover Girl (Rise of Cobra)
Hands: Duke (Jungle Assault)
Upper Legs: Lady Jaye (Revenge of Cobra DVD Set)
Lower Legs: Elite-Viper (Rise of Cobra)
Kneepads: Snake Eyes (Valor vs. Venom)
Knife: Snake Eyes (Retaliation Tactical Ninja Team Set)
Gun: Bravo Team figure
Spear: Storm Shadow staff (Arctic Assault) & Guandao tip (Ninja Battles Set)

To say Jaye was a labourous effort would be an understatement. I've been slowly assembling her for a long time and finally decided to bite the bullet and finish her. Like many of my customs, I wanted her to reflect a more modern sensibility while still retaining visual cues from her most iconic portrayal. I was really just missing one integral part: the spear. I wanted the set with the proper spear, but have never been able to get it, either because I couldn't find it or couldn't afford it. Thus, I felt it best to attempt to create a new spear. I am pretty happy with the overall result of this custom. Now I just need to work on Flint.

Very nice job on that Lady Jaye custom. She definitely has that Pursuit of Cobra vibe to her. It's funny how Duke's hands aren't too big for the arms, too.

Are you going to use the upcoming Flint for parts or the Retaliation version?

Thanks. She definitely has POC vibe, which fits my personal Joeverse to a tee. And that Duke has some of the tiniest hands, it's crazy to think they're meant to belong to a man.

As for Flint, I already have the pieces assembled for him. I was somewhat inspired by the concept case figure (which is going to be made now, apparently) but I wanted to go my own route with his design too. He's a mash-up of Resolute and Retaliation parts with various bits from other places. I'm hoping to get him up here before the year is up.

In the meantime, here's another newer custom.

My Joeverse's Cobra sees themselves as a group trying to make the world a better place, through force if necessary, and Cobra Commander needed to look the part of a Che Guevara-esque military leader. He bleeds with his men and mourns every one that falls. I like the idea of it not being as black and white that he's evil and needs to be stopped. He's a man with a dream for a better world and he's fighting for it in the only way he knows how. CC is not just a commanding leader but he also joins his soldiers on the battlefield, always willing to bleed for his own cause. I based him largely on his appearance on the cover of IDW's Cobra: Cobra Civil War Vol. 1 tpb cover.

Parts List
Head: Cobra Commander (Renegades)
Torso: Cobra Commander (Retaliation Wave 3.5)
Arms: Cobra Commander (Retaliation Wave 3.5)
Upper Legs: Cobra Commander (Retaliation Wave 3.5)
Lower Legs: Snake Eyes (Retaliation Tactical Ninja Team Set)
Vest: Cobra Invasion Trooper (Retaliation Cobra Invasion Team Set)
Right Leg Holster: Scarlett (ROC Desert Battle) plus fodder for the thigh strap
Left Leg Holster: G.I. Joe Trooper (Retaliation)
Vest Radio: Cobra Invasion Trooper (Retaliation Cobra Invasion Team Set)
Belt Pouches: Various fodder

Let me know what you guys think. :salute:

Dang, that Duke must be the exact opposite of Lana from Archer. Those hands look just right for Lady Jaye and I can't even imagine them being attached to man arms.

That C.C. custom would probably blend in nicely with those Pursuit of Cobra-style Cobra Troopers that no one can get enough of, but is still immediately identifiable as Cobra Commander. Excellent work there!

I hope those upcoming TRU sets sell well enough to lead to more packs and, hopefully, more goodness from those concept galleries.

POC Jungle Duke definitely has tiny arms for Duke. I even recall one customizer using the arms for a female custom because they just look like extra muscular female arms.

I actually have some tweaked Cobra Troopers I need to snap pictures of so I can show them. Maybe even get a group pic with the Commander. I even created a new type pf Viper, the SWAT Viper. Much as Hasbro did with POC, I try to blend the old with the new in a way that makes it easy to tell who is who while giving a new take on the characters. I'm glad you're enjoying these.

And yeah, I hope those sets do well too. Sadly, I don't known if I will ever be able to get any of them due to my Toysrus closing down. The closest one now is around an hour away and we don't get out that way very often. Luckily, I have taken it upon myself to recreate some of those concepts in new ways for my own collection. If I can ever figure out waterslide decals I will get my Gung Ho made, who I personally think looks better than the concept case version.

Moving on, here's a little older but still fairly new figure I did.

When he was released in the G.I. Joe revival in 2001, Double Blast was nothing but a Roadblock repaint. Forgettable and generic, I wanted to fix that. After all, the team needs more badass men of colour, so I put him together using a bunch of disparate parts I had but didn't really have use for. He only needed a head, which I found when I saw the Kimbo Slice figure. DB here is more than just a big machine gun toting guy though. He's a electrical genius and in my Joeverse is often found tinkering with his buddy Dialtone, working on their pet project, a B.A.T. that ended up in their hands that they nicknamed Rig, as in jury-rig. It's important to me that it be shown that even the big guys can be as more than just a bruiser with big gun.

Parts List
Head: Kimbo Slice (UFC)
Torso: Heavy Duty (Rise of Cobra)
Arms: Heavy Duty (Rise of Cobra)
Legs: Heavy Duty (Rise of Cobra)
Vest: Zartan (Desert Battle)
Belt: Heavy Duty (Rise of Cobra)
Kneepads: William Regal (WWE Build N Brawl)
Gun: Roadblock (Retaliation Wave 3.5)

That's a great rendition of a character who was basically remade just to get around the inability to use the name Roadblock. That Kimbo Slick head works perfectly and the WWE kneepads are a nice way to cover up that single kneepad that figure sculpt has. I like the backstory you made for him, too. It's MUCH better that what they did to Heavy Duty.

Resurrecting this thread as I have gotten back into customs in a big way. I just don't have too many done completely yet. Here's some WIP stuff, including one that I am sure Capcom fans will dig. Mostly I'm just trying to perfect these designs to fit my Joeverse.

Helix, Duke, Roadblock, Red Star, and Mouse

Some notes on these: I was never really happy with the head Helix came with, so this in me trying to fix that. The others are my version of these characters, which generally is me taking multiple looks and mashing them together to create a sort of definitive look. I still need a hat for Red Star. Also, Mouse isn't the Retaliation character but is rather the one from Sgt. Savage and His Screaming Eagles. I plan to do all of the Screaming Eagles eventually.

Rain, Gurkha, and Ra's Al Ghul

Rain is a conversion from a Corps figure I kinda liked. He's their team leader and I wanted to fold him into the command structure of the Joe team. Duke, Colton, and Hawk can't be everywhere so there needs to be officers ready to pick up the slack. Gurkha is based on the second version of Mercer, treating him basically as a completely different character. Ra's Al Ghul is the major draw here though, I will admit. I'm basing him mainly on both his BTAS appearance and his Arkham City look. I even have a Demon's Head masked head.

Torch, Dr. Evazan, and Rotiron

These are some of my Dreadnoks and I have been working on the gang for a while. They're a long term project, as I am trying to give them the full biker/mercenary look with tattoos, patches, and pins. Torch is based mainly on his JvC figure as I felt it was a stronger look. Evazan is my first Star Wars character to get a Earth-bound adaption and I like the idea of him and Ponda Baba being Dreadnoks. He definitely looks like he's been in a lot of brawls. Rotiron is my idea for a former Iron Grenadier who defected, choosing the life of a 'Nok over honourably serving his laird.

Here's a look at the patches I've got on Evazan's vest. Still plenty of work to be done though.

Cover Girl and Shocker

Nothing too much to say, they are what they are. CG is based primarily on her Resolute look with a zipped jacket and Shocker is a member of the Thunderbolts/Suicide Squad-like black ops division of G.I. Joe where criminals are offered a chance to earn a place on the proper team or to simply get a clean record and walk away from the life altogether.

Steve Rogers, Joseph Colton, and General Hawk

These men are the primary commanders of the entire team. They keep everything running and select candidates to join the ranks. I also intend on including some other old soldiers in this group like Sgt. Rock and Nick Fury Sr., but over all these are the big boys. Steve and Colton aren't far from being done but I still need a few things for Hawk. He's being based heavily off of the Sideshow figure of him.

Finally, here's the one I advertised at the beginning. Dutch from Predator/Alien's vs. Predator, in 1/18 scale waiting to be painted up. I have planned to do him for a while now but a recent challenge was issued to make figures that are robots/androids/cyborgs and it was just the kick in the ass I needed. I don't know if I'll win but just showing him off when he's done will be a joy in itself.

I'll be posting finished customs up here soon. I hope someone notices and can dig it all. I miss posting work over here. :salute:

There's a lot of great customs in there, even at that early stage. It's good to see you have all these custom ideas, especially that last one!

I have the same itch to make Neo-Classical (only term I can think of right now) versions of Duke and RB and yours look like they're already off to a great start. You've really managed to make a giant Roadblock there, and he should look tall compared to the MU figures, too.

BTW: was the Gung-Ho/Shadow set hard to find in your area? I got lucky and got one off TRU.com and only saw a second one at the local TRU (I left it in case some other poor collector had the same crap luck I did). I wanted extra Gung-Ho figs for customs, but he was so dang hard to find for non-marked-up prices.

BTW: did you see that Mezco is going to do Mortal Kombat figures in this scale?

Thanks for the compliments, Prime. I have so many ideas floating in my head and so little money to invest towards making them a reality. I still need to make my Hannibal Lector figure, as he's in charge of signing off on members of the black ops unit. Probably the hard decision comes down to whether I want the TV version or the movie version.

I wasn't able to find the Gung Ho/Storm Shadow set at all. I had to grab my Gung Ho loose on eBay. I'll put some pics of him up soon. I didn't know about the MK figures, but I sadly won't be able to afford them anyway. What little cash I was getting is going poof soon and I still can't find a job in my area.
