NT Update...and gender prediction

I had my NT scan today, baby measured perfectly at 12w4d and the NT measurements were all around 1.5-1.6.

Funny story though; for #1, DS was so active and uncooperative that the sonographer made me drink like 2 L of water to "squish" him into position. So I loaded up prior to my scan today, about to burst on the table and baby was so squashed that the sonographer was like "go empty your bladder by about half". I had to do that 2 more times before she was like, "well, just empty it all the way and if I need you to refill we can do that." I was like, are you kidding? I've been dying over here for the past 30 min...So she finally got the measurement after all of that. After baby got some room, we even got to see it doing some frog kicks all around the side of the sack, leading to one picture with a pretty clear bulge. Already having a DS I was pretty sure I recognized it, and the sonographer (although hesitant to confirm past 60/40 odds) said "if I were a betting person...I'd bet on boy".

I was actually shocked. With DS#1, I felt so different. I barely gained any weight, I didn't show or need maternity clothes until 24 weeks, I was barely nauseated, my skin was clear and my chest did not get large or sore. This time, I am over a toilet many times per day, I'm already 10 lbs heavier, too round for my previous maternity clothes, acne is everywhere (no, I'm not "glowing", I'm just greasy), I've grown out of my nursing bras; I was convinced it was a girl. DH really wanted a girl too. DS#1 is a pretty cool dude, so I'd be thrilled for another kid like him, but I'm just a little disappointed that there aren't any pink tutus in my future. :/ I hope I don't sound like too much of a horrible person.

First congrats on a very good measurement!

Second... You never know about the gender. 12 weeks is still super early and FYI my cousins wife was "predicted" a boy at their GENDER scan and guess what? Little Gianna lives her pink tutus. So, you never know.

Saw your post on the other board and hoping your m/s goes away.

One last thing, I have gotten horrible acne too and since I was afraid to use anything I have in the past, I found Belli skin care. They make an acne wash and spot treatment especially for pregnancy. I was actually given a sample of it at buy buy baby and loved it. I ordered it online a couple weeks ago. If you do, google "promo codes" for Belli skin care, I also did that and saved 20%. And my skin looks great now:)

What a funny story! I have heard of the 20 wk being wrong before. I hope I didn't sound like I would be upset with another boy or anything, it's just that since I have one already (and am soooo blessed by him) it's just more fun to think about one of each. Thanks for reminding me that sometimes God really likes to keep u s on our toes.

I will have to look into that cleanser. I'm seriously looking like a slice of greasy pepperoni right now! LOL.

Yay for the good measurement and for the baby cooperating!!! Congrats!!!

Although it is early, those are some pretty good odds. AND...you have experience in seeing the boy parts before. BUT, you never know...

Congrats on a great scan and on the prelim gender prediction! I don't think you "sound like a horrible person" at all BTW- I think we all have a preconceived gender preference, but that doesn't mean we won't be thrilled either way. Also sorry about your ongoing nausea- that sounds really awful. For what it's worth, I know we think of the P4 with nausea, but I've continued to follow my E2 levels weekly (just b/c it makes me feel better after having low levels early on- I stopped supplementing quite a while ago) and I've noticed the level increasing exponentially over the past few weeks. So, with hormones continuing to go nuts, I guess the nausea can make some sense. Hopefully it will all settle down and you'll be feeling much better soon.

Congratulations again on a very encouraging scan!

to want at least one of each gender. I have two girls and of course hoping for a boy but would be very happy with another girl. I had my u's at about the same time as you and they wouldn't even guess, so that was annoying. 60/40 odds aren't great so I would get too uptight about it at this point.

Also, I had the same experience, the tech really couldn't get the measurement until I emptied my bladder, it was really annoying. I think if you are relatively thin then you don't really need the liquid and sometimes it causes a problem. And yes, you show much earlier in subseqent pregnancies, which is kind of a bummer if you aren't ready to tell people yet. Glad the scan went well.

I have felt pretty much the same with this preg. as I did with DS and (supposedly) I'm having a girl as we found out at my 20 week ultrasound. The funny thing is, in the 3 u/s I've had since then to monitor my bleeding situation, I always ask " So, still a girl?" I swear they think I'm only there to get a recheck on the gender
