i was literally shaking like a leaf i was so, so nervous for this first ultrasound. luckily, the nurse was so sweet - within a couple of seconds she said "there is the sack and there is the heartbeat". a heartbeat!! then she confirmed a singleton (whew!!) and s/he measures right on track (6w3d) and the heartbeat was 125, which i was told is perfect. i'm so very relieved and so happy. i know at 43.5 it is still a long shot and there is a long, long way to go, but today is a great day! not telling anyone IRL, so i continue to be so grateful to be able to share with and have the support of you fine women.

Congratulations on your ultrasound, I could feel the relief and happiness in your message and I'm so happy for you. I understand what you wrote about "long shot" but the fact that you have a heartbeat and a good one, is a VERY good sign, so cling to that. When I first found out I was PG, my RE told me it would be a "long haul" given my history of losses, age (39.9 at the time of conception) and fibroid. It's definitely nervewracking but every passing week will hopefully make you feel a little bit more reassured. Enjoy this good news!!! XOXO
