I RECENTLY BOUGHT A BILL DAVIS CUSTOM PISTOL. ON THE GUN BARRELL ON ONE SIDE IT IS ENGRAVED WITH FOUR QUEENS DESERT REGIONAL AND BEHIND IT IT HAS ROADRUNNER SHOOTING AT WYLIE COYOTE. ON THE OTHER SIDE IT SAYS BILL DAVIS CUSTOM. BEHIND THE CYLINDER IT HAS THE FOUR QUEENS LOGO AND HOTEL/CASINO DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. I WANT TO TRY AND FIND OUT AS MUCH AS I CAN ABOUT THIS GUN. WHO WAS IT BUILT FOR AND ANY OTHER HISTORY OF IT I CAN GET.

The Davis Company built those guns as awards for the Four Queens PPC Regional in, I believe, the late 1980's. Bill told me at the time that these guns were every bit as accurate as any of his other PPC revolvers. This one has not been fired, other than at the S&W factory and after being built at Davis.

THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. YOUR GUN IS BEAUTIFUL. APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION, AND BY CHANCE WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT THE VALUE WOULD BE? ALSO, HOW MANY OF THEM WERE MADE? THANKS AGAIN, RON

I would guess that there were less than a dozen made, although a member of this forum worked for the Davis Company at the time and will have a better idea. As for what it is worth, I suppose the easy answer is that it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I would guess you would be charged at least $2500 to dulicate these revolvers.

We built those ppc guns in 1989 (I believe) for the Four Queens Regional PPC match as awards. The gun design was by the late Kerry Freeman an outstanding gunsmith . logo, art work, etc. were the brainchild of Bill Davis and several employees and I remember working late into the night to finish the gold fill and final finish work before driving them to the Four Queens Hotel the next morning. They were likely the finest firearm awards ever given in all classes at any match.I believe we made a total of 15 guns, few have ever left the hands of the winners. Like KAC I have one too, you having one is your good fortune. They are complete ppc guns nothing was left out of the production of the guns, they shoot as well as any ppc gun ever built. I personally test fired each of them and they are excellent guns. Dennis Cerruti was the Security director for the 4 Queens hotel and he and Bill Davis were very good friends. Dennis was the driving force behind the match and made sure his match was excellent, it was! Dennis made sure everyone enjoyed themselves, including a Golf tournament,Slot tournament, fashion show, busses running to and from the Hotel every half hour, and a huge awards banquet.Sadly Dennis passed away jan.1991 and unfortunately with Dennis the 4 Queens Regional died too! Dennis and Bill worked to make that match the best and I am proud to have been part of it. JP

My gun does not have the gold lettering. Did they use the same gun each year or did they use different varieties of the same gun? Mine also has a different barrell. The front of it looks more like a Browning hi-power. All of the engraving is the same as the gun in previous e-mail. I bought the gun from a dealer in Michigan and it was suppose to have belonged to the person who won it. I'm trying to get as much info on it as possible. I would like to put the gold inlay on it,but am not sure if I should. Also, the grips on this gun cover up part of the Four Queens logo. Was this the way the gun came, or did the owner change them to his preference? They look like other Bill Davis grips, but not like the ones on the gun shown above. I will receive my gun on Thursday and then i can post a picture of it. Thanks for all your help.

Looking forward to the picture. Some owners actually shot these guns in matches. The gold fill in the engraving could be removed by using too much solvent when cleaning. I am not 100% sure, but I thought these were awarded one year only.
