I have a S&W Model 15-3 PPC gun that I picked up in 1978. I am wondering if it is a bill Davis production. Besides the serial number, the following number is stamped on the yolk:
D24
09816.

Can anyone shed any light on the history of this piece?

Thanks

I have a Davis Custom PPC of the same "vintage year" as yours and mine has nicely engraved on the Aristocrat sight rib "Bill Davis Custom". An it appears nowhere else on the gun.

If it was built by Bill Davis there would be engraving on the barrel that would state that. The number on the yoke was stamped there by S&W while the gun was being built. It will be found on the frame and side plate to keep those parts together.
