Hi!
Looking at the NRA pages i found the following in the rule changes section:

Rule changes effective 2009
3.17 Ammunition

(d) Service Revolver - Either hand loaded or factory loaded .38 special caliber ammunition may be used. No midrange wadcutter ammunition is allowed.

(e) Off-Duty Revolver - Either hand loaded or factory loaded .38 special caliber ammunition may be used. No midrange wadcutter ammunition is allowed.

And this is what's in the 2009 rule book:

(d) Service Revolver - Caliber .38 special, 158 grain lead service. Round nose or semi-wadcutter ammunition is authorized. No midrange wadcutter ammunition will be allowed.

(e) Off-Duty Revolver - Caliber .38 special, 158 grain lead service. Round nose or semi-wadcutter ammunition is authorized. No midrange wadcutter ammunition will be allowed.

As you can see there is a 158 grains of lead missing in one of them. Is this just a typo or what?

So it is just missing by accident?
I started to wonder since the missing bullet weight was in the change note.

Unless NRA changes the rules (which of course they already have) the 2009 rule change should take precedence over the "old" rulebook. Looks like any 38 caliber bullet is now legal for Off-Duty and Service Revolver. Guess NRA will have to sort this one out.

Talked to Dwight VanHorn,Chief referee at NPSP,about ammo for 2"&4"revolvers(off duty and service revolver)he stated they have changed requirements for these two guns because shooters are having trouble finding lead 158 gr.ammo and or bullets. So pretty much anything except +p or magnum goes. Distinguished revolver however is still 158 gr. lead rn or swc. Hope this helps. JP
