After a few days of hiking his way through the Rustic Forrest Typhus finally emerged. It took a lot longer than he would have liked, but after getting swarmed by bugs and almost killed by one of their poisons any amount of time in that forest was too much for him. He looked out to the horizon and saw the skyline of Anbauer City draped across it.

Typhus had never been one to like the city, going into hiding and becoming a mountain recluse certainly didn't help either, but there was something about Anbauer that made it special to him. It was probably the fact that the last time he was here no one commented on, or even seemed to care about his mask.

This city was also home to one of the warmest receptions that Typhus had recieved since his parents died. Al had taken him in, granted he was a blind old hobo who was squatting in an abandoned building, but the man gave Typhus a place to crash that wasn't on the streets. That meant a lot to him. Maybe this time around he would track Al down, and see if there was any way that he could repay him.

Typhus stepped into the giant slum that was Anbauer City. Anyone who had been here before would know that "giant slum" was less of an insult, and more of an accurate description of the city. When the Kommandant took over several of the businesses and entrepreneurs in the city went bankrupt. This lead to a surge in the amount of abandoned buildings, homeless, and crime in the city.

The city was as dirty as it always was, and crammed full of people. Usually this many people would make Typhus incredibly uneasy, but with the down trodden, and "I've seen it all before" attitude that Anbauer had no one ever seemed to bother with the masked man passing through the streets.

Typhus followed several of the familiar streets making his way to the Aerial Tower where he knew Al lived. Some where along the way a gang of scraggy set up their turf, because after making a turn down an alley he found himself surrounded by two scraggy on either side of him. Their leader, a scrafty with a particularly impressive crest, was hanging back and watching his cohorts approach their victim.

Typhus pulled two of his pokeballs from his pockets. The first pokemon he called to the field was an obvious choice. Schläger, Typhus's own scraggy, appeared in front. Second, Typhus's other Fighting/Dark type pokemon, Klein appeared behind. The hulking pangoro was mostly there to make sure that Schläger wouldn't get overwhelmed by numbers. As far as Typhus was concerned though, this was Schläger's fight.

Typhus's first command was for Schläger to weaken his opponent's defenses by using LEER. The scraggy felt a slight shiver down their spines due to the malicious gaze, which must have been noticed by their leader. The Scrafty said something in pokespeak that caused the two scraggy in front of Schläger to move to either side so that the scrafty could approch Schläger.

It was made apparent that the scrafty was going to handle this fight when it leaped into the air and attempted to his Schläger with a HIGH-JUMP KICK. "Dodge, and use SAND ATTACK." Schläger ducked below the attack, and threw a hand full of sand and dirt into the scrafty's face when it stood up from the crash.

While the scrafty was still stunned from its crash landing, and blinded from the sand attack Typhus called out another command. "LOW KICK!" Schläger approached the scrafty and gave it a kick across its mid-section, sending it back into a wall, and knocking it out cold. When the rest of the scraggy saw their leader defeated so easily they scattered in every direction, leaving Typhus to go on his way.

Typhus made his way through the winding streets and alleyways of Anbauer until he stood at the base of the dilapidated old Aerial Tower. He made his way through the foyer, and headed over to the room that belonged to Al. When Typhus walked into the room it was dimly lit by the blue flame atop of a litwick's head. The little ghost pokemon danced around overhead, but below there were already several people standing around the small cot that Al was lying on.

The old man was lying on his bed struggling to gather short pained breaths that were regularly interrupted by fits of coughing. He was delirious, barely coherent, and didn't really seem to notice any of the people in the room. One of the men in the room gave Typhus a puzzled look, and gestured for Ty to follow him into the hallway.

Once they were clear of the door Typhus spoke up in a soft, yet concerned tone. "What's wrong with him?"

The man still gave Typhus a puzzled look, probably due mostly to the mask, and that he had never seen Typhus before. "We honestly don't know... Who are you again?"

"Typhus." His answer didn't seem to alleviate the man's curiosities. "I'm a friend of Al's. How long has he been like that?"

The man sighed a little bit, and dropped the questions. "It's been a few days now"

"Why haven't you taken him to a hospital yet?" Typhus's concern for the old man beginning to grow.

"He doesn't have any money, and we've already been turned away from the hospital." The man was obviously frustrated, and more than a little bit exhausted. "Listen I'm sure Al would have appreciated your visit, but nows not a very good time okay. Maybe you should come back later." With that the man went back into the room, leaving Typhus alone in the hall.

Death has always been a subject that has put Typhus on edge. After the last death in his life he was driven to becoming a reclusive mountain hermit. There were extenuating circumstances, as we all know, but the death of his parents was the main cause. Now after ten years alone on his mountain Typhus finally found someone that he considered a friend. Now Al was sick, possibly dying, and Typhus had no idea on whether or not there was any way to help him.

Eventually Typhus found himself where everyone in Anbauer who was down on their luck, and had no where else to go did, some hole in the wall bar on Bieze Stricht. Typhus stayed at the bar for most of the day trying to decide what he would, should. . . COULD do to help Al. Gods know Typhus didn't have any money, besides the few dollars he dropped in beer. He swallowed himself in thought, but nothing came to him. There was no way that Typhus could help, beside standing there helplessly and waiting for a change.

The TV in the corner of the bar caught Typhus's attention for a moment. It was showing a highlights reel of last year's Macht Tournament. Apparently in the quarter finals a trainer and her surskit managed to stage a huge upset by defeating a emolga. Typhus was trying to ignore the TV as much as possible until he caught the tail end of the announcer mentioning a substantial cash prize.

Typhus's head snapped over to the bartender. "Hey when is that tournament being held?" He asked with the sound of a little desparation.

"Starts in three days over on the Colosseum Island. You need to get there slightly ahead of time to register though."

Typhus had heard all that he needed to. He quickly finished his beer, left a tip for the bartender, and left the bar as quickly as he could.

Typhus needed to reach Colosseum Island in order to register to participate in the tournament. In reality he only had two days to make it to West Pate, and he had only just reached the northern edge of Anbauer. Most of today was wasted trying to figure out how he'd be able to help Al, and he knew he'd have to stop for the night soon.

The sun crept below the Anbauer skyline Typhus made the decision to stop of the night, and get an early start in the morning. He found a spot that was sheltered from the wind, thank god there was no rain in the forecast, and hunkered down for dinner and the night. A little while later a wild fennekin approached his camb, and judging by the steam venting from its ears it wasn't friendly.

The approach of a potentially hostile fire type pokemon immediately put Typhus into fight or flight mode, and he responded by throwing Faust's pokeball out in front of him. The scuffle pokemon appeared, and attempted to TACKLE the fennekin. His attack was cut short by a PSYBEAM from the fox pokemon. Typhus immediately recalled Faust, and sent Schläger.

The fennekin tried its PSYBEAM again, but when the move had no effect, and it saw the scraggy approaching, it decided to turn tail and run.
