168 lbs (76,20 kg)◊ Hair Color & Style ◊As a child Hendrickson used to don a dark blond colouration, inherited from his mother, and grew his hair out until it touched the small of his back. This was done to the prodding of his mother as she always wanted a daughter and found the arrangement devastatingly cute, her own words, on Hendrickson during his younger years.
However at a certain point in time in his life, Hendrickson decided that he no longer could be bothered to take care of the long locks and had it cut short. Now the furthest strand of hair only reaches just past the nape of his neck. It was also around this same time that he decided to have an unnatural hair colour that defied common sense and dyed his locks in a steelblue colouration.
Two bangs frame his face and stop just short of his chin while a third bang lay between his eyes with the tips of the hair strands just reaching the root of his nose. There is very little effort that Hendrickson has to put into keeping his hair the way it is. Although he does not quite enjoy the bed hair at the top of his head that refuses to disappear no matter what products he used, he has learned to live with it.◊ Eyes ◊Unlike his dyed hair, Hendrickson's eyes are a naturally steel blue and are quite narrow. His eyebrows, also coloured steel blue, are quite thin but still noticeable and stretch a bit over the corners of his eyes.
While eyes are said to be the window to a person's soul, Hendrickson has made it an art of always closing the curtains. One can never fully ascertain just what the man is thinking or feeling just by relying on those orbs, and while they can look filled with joy, his real thoughts can be anything but. When he is utterly displeased, any trace of emotion disappears like snow before the sun and his eyes can be likened to a glacier.◊ General Appearance ◊Being quite a bit taller than the average person Hendrickson finds it amusing that he towers over his father who only stands at 5 feet 5. Especially as the man is quite the hefty guy that could subdue him with little effort. Having seemingly inherited all his physical attributes from his mother, Hendrickson is quite lanky for a male and while he has performed in a physical sport since his youth, he knows that he will never be as beefed as his father. Having stuck to gymnastics for almost his entire youth and adolescence, Hendrickson's muscles are more of the compact type that are easily hidden by the loose clothes that he wears. Those same lessons have also made the man quite flexible, as he is perfectly capable of grabbing his right foot and pulling it up to his right shoulder with little to no strain or discomfort while standing straight up.
Due to living in a household that is entirely supported by two parents that cook and waiter in their own establishment, Hendrickson has been told time and time again to take care of his appearance since he could understand what happens around him. While he is no hygiene freak, or Arceus forbid a mysophobe or automysophobe, Hendrickson will always make sure that he is presentable as long as that choice isn't ripped out of his hands by outside forces.
While his height makes him quite noticeable by other people, that is not his sole attracting factor. Hendrickson is able to grab others their attention by the way of his walk and how he holds himself. Always with a head held high, drawn back shoulders and a stiff upper body he is able to come over as confident, if not domineering. Not even the cane that he now carries along after an accident in Lumina Bridge is able to detract from his image. When he goes outside, the man always seems to have a clear destination in mind as his strides are long and steady which help in emitting a sense of superiority over the masses.◊ Clothing & Accessories ◊
Preferring to travel as lightly as possible, Hendrickson's wardrobe during his travels mostly consists of the clothes he wears on his back. While he does carry a few spare clothes in case of accidents, and some sleepwear, it isn't enough to take much note of. During Spring and Autumn one can always see the man wear a grey-green coloured trench coat that reaches just past his knees with a hood at the top. If the temperature allows it, Hendrickson likes to leave his coat wide open. Underneath the coat man wears a black sweater with a collar and under that just about any simple, decent looking shirt. His legs are covered by a pair of white pants with a black line travelling down the trouser legs. The trousers are tucked in a pair of army boots that cover his shins almost entirely, which have the motif of all four card suits printed on in a vertical row.
During the colder Winter season Hendrickson pulls a third layer of clothing out of his bag and wears it under his pullover, while keeping the trench coat shut firmly tight. His white trousers on the other hand are tucked away and are replaced by a pair of cold resistant pants that are tucked into his boots. Once Summer arrives, the coat, resistant pants and boots are stored away into his bag. In their stead, Hendrickson opts to wear the short sleeved shirts that are usually covered by his sweater, combined with some knee-length shorts and a pair of canvas shoes.
With the exception of the Summer season, Hendrickson always has a white tie tied loosely around his neck all year round. In the hottest season of the year, the tie is replaced with a chain necklace that adorns a ring with his Zodiac sign of the Twins. It is an accessory that he received from his parents and he only showcases it during Summer, normally keeping the necklace covered by his jumper. On his right arm the man has tattooed the image of a dark blue rose, with the bulb and petals drawn on his shoulder and the stem coiling down his arm just past the elbow. It is a constant reminder for his goals and dreams, as the dark blue rose represents the impossible and unattainable and how little those words should mean to him on his path to greatness.

- ◊ "Power is absolute." ◊
"Strange." "Untrustworthy." "Uncomfortable." "Friendly." "Open minded." "Reliable."
Words such as these have been used by people to label one Hendrickson Novelton when the man himself is not around. There is always a group of people that have a different opinion of the man and that is just how he likes and plans it. Having never been one to be true to others, the young man always keeps his true thoughts and emotions very close to himself. Not to mention that he is perfectly capable of donning the right mask for every situation. People that he deems useful to his goals are treated decently, but those that he feels have no merit whatsoever or even worse, are possible threats, are dismissed outright or go ignored by the man.
His default facial expression always carries a smile, as it is the most pleasing expression with the highest chance of having people lower their guards around him. However unlike the friendly appearance that he gives off, internally Hendrickson could not care less about what goes on in the life of most people. When conversing with a person, the man is always subtly checking the other person and the surroundings out in the hopes to find flaws or suspicious things. He will do anything to get the upper hand and doesn't shriek back from some dirty work.
Whenever he talks to someone, Hendrickson will always keep a polite tone even when he does not care about the other person. He does this in attempt to have others feel relaxed in his presence so that he may pick out their flaws and so that he may find out just how useful they are and how they could be manipulated for his own needs. In case anyone inquires about him or his past, Hendrickson subtly diverts their attention away or simply gives an unimportant detail. That is if he doesn't just outright lie into the other party's face.
His ministrations and manipulations however cannot happen too early in the morning, and especially not if he hadn't gotten a single a drop of caffeine in him. Far from being a morning person, Hendrickson is utterly incapable of any thoughts more convoluted than eating and grumbling some gibberish until he has drunk coffee. It doesn't matter how late or early he goes to bed, any hour before 12:00 PM that he has to wake up is an ungodly hour. Anyone that gets in the way of him and his coffee will pay for it dearly, and not even his parents are exempt from this treatment.
All of these less than moral actions stem from the fact that Hendrickson has never fully developed his social skills, or rather that he is incapable of feeling empathy. When someone cries, he can adopt a sad face and when someone laughs he is able to smile along. He is fully capable of acting his emotions out in any situation as to come over as a normal human being, however that is all his actions are. Acts. Because of this he knows that no matter how at ease he tries to make others feel, or how polite he is, there will always be a wall between him and other people that will hinder them to fully trust in him. But that doesn't really bother the man, at the end of the day Hendrickson does not trust or care for anyone else either. Not with important things, such as his safety and thoughts, at least.
Of course, there are exceptions to every rule in the universe and Hendrickson's trust issue is no different. Not that it is something that he easily hands over, even to those few anomalies, but he is at least willing to show respect to them. Those few that belong to the exceptions are Pokémon who have proven their worth, no matter their appearance or abilities, people that share his mindset in how to raise and use a Pokémon and those who have defeated him in battle without being obnoxious about it. He knew that trust was a two way street and if he ever betrayed others, he should be fully prepared for the other party to pay him back for his actions.
His ways of raising Pokémon could be seen as quite ruthless by normal people, however he pays them little mind if they stumbled into one of his session. Every single one of them would be pushed to their limits and be forced to surpass them, even if they had to cry, bleed or vomit their way through. Those incapable of keeping up with his expectations and demands would be cast aside for other members. There was no use in putting any effort or time in useless members on his team.
The steel blue haired man has absolutely no problems with playing tricks on his opponent, as any tactic is a viable one if it can grant victory. Those that would preach about 'fairness', 'justness' and 'equality' were abhorred by the man. After all, those things were but pipe dreams of the optimistic idiots and dreamers. People are not created equally. From the moment they are born, people are already inherently different, if only due to their different upbringings.
As far as Hendrickson is concerned, all of life is governed by one thing. Power. Those with sufficient power can order the weaker ones around however they pleased. It was a simply, if brutish, way of thinking but it was the most efficient on in his eyes. Power was what Hendrickson adored and what he wanted to make his. He didn't care in what shape it came, financial, political or otherwise. If it was there, he wanted it. And with Pokémon being the most powerful and influential creatures on the planet, Hendrickson planned on using them to his advantage.

- ◊ "I would much rather know about your past." ◊
Born out of the love between Hans Novelton and Rebecca Novelton née Eldenton, Hendrickson became part of a slightly abnormal family according to his hometown's standards. It did not happen often that two members of the opposing sides in the 'Tradition versus Progress' discussion that has taken a solid grip within Kotoba City marry one another. Their own families obviously did not like the arrangement, however they were capable of tolerating one another enough that they could hold civil conversations with each other. Even if those talks were short and often mundane.
Growing up in a family wherein the extended families had two completely different views on most matters has allowed Hendrickson to develop an open and broad mind. He was taught to never rely on only one side of the story as that could end up quite unconventional for himself. That is if the family members even bothered talking to him. There were quite a few members that did not like the marriage between his parents, and therefore did not like his very existence. It was illogical, but Hendrickson would find out during his growth that little about human interactions made a whole lot of sense.
Aside from those few spiteful family members, there was little to no problem to his upbringing. All things considered, Hendrickson Novelton could have been a normal boy. He was born in a city that trove on the export of its goods and the reputation that it's produced herbs had over the other cities. He was brought in a familial situation that while slightly unconventional due to the differing views and hostile relationships, there were no special issues or benefits that arose such as being hunted down by loan sharks or becoming the heir to a multi national company that yearly made millions of profit. He received the same amount of attention, education and affection from his parents that just about any other child needed and received. Rewards were handed when he did something good, and punishments were dished out when he stepped out of line. He never went through anything traumatising, nor was did he ever get noticed by a top notch Trainer or Professor that would love to impart their teachings on. All things considered, Hendrickson Novelton should have been a run of the mill young boy that did not stand out in any strange way. However, he wasn't.
Something about the boy made him different from others his age. He wasn't as rambunctious, he wasn't as annoying and he most certainly wasn't snotty. In fact, he was quite the silent type who mostly kept to himself and preferred to read indoors rather than socialize with others. Even when he decided to join a gymnast class during his free time, the boy kept a certain wall between him and his peers. If he spoke to someone the then blond haired boy always answered back in a polite manner. Whether they be his peers, his juniors or seniors, it didn't matter if they were male or female, the Novelton was always polite and friendly. However there was something about his way of speech and how he held himself that unsettled others, as if he tolerated everyone around him at best.
The long haired boy never went out of his way to make friends on his own, and while he did not rebuke anyone that stretched a hand of kindness to him he was never fully into the games the other games would play. His preferences lay with being left alone, be forgotten and allowed left to his own devices. Those that did not know their limits and overstepped their boundaries were quickly made an example of by his younger self. If not physically then with biting and scatting remarks. It did not matter if what age or gender they were, if he did not want them then he made quite sure the other person knew this while making it as difficult as possible to retaliate in similar matter as he always kept his polite tone present.
Hendrickson himself found little wrong with this arrangement that he created between him and just about everyone that he meant. After all, if elder people did not want him around then why should he compromise and play pretend with the younger ones that he wanted nothing to do with himself? His peers were disgusting little annoyances that were far too childish, and thus he preferred to stand with the older people. However, their refusal to get along with him based on the sole factor of him being far younger than them angered him greatly. He was too young, they said. He should play with Sally and Ann in the sandbox, they said. He should play house with the other girls, they said as they mistook his gender due to his long locks. They didn't want him? Fine, but he was going to be damned before he would bow to their expectations and do as he was told. Books were a perfectly able replacement from his peers, no matter what the adults claimed otherwise.
Because of this, as well as his inability to truly feel empathy, Hendrickson's people skills suffered quite a bit on the emotional side of things. He is incapable of feeling another's sorrow, joy or pain and simply dons the needed mask most suited for the situation. The only ones that have an inkling of an idea of what goes through his mind are his parents, and even those aren't privy to everything. Said adults were quite saddened that their own son acted this way around others, however they were incapable of helping himself as they were far too busy with their restaurant and making sure that their in-laws did not murder one another when they weren't looking.
As he grew up and became more and more perceptive of his surroundings, Hendrickson discovered something that intrigued him quite a bit. It was certainly more exciting than the garbage his peers uttered about their 'special adventures'. Students that were polite, helpful and shied away from trouble, or even put a stop to any issues by themselves were quite praised adults. The few times that these same classmates would then make a mistake, or were in the fault, adults and other peers would sooner come to their aid. Almost as if anyone that acted this way, was 'correct' and would get quite a few benefits.
As he entered middle school and observed more and more interactions between the students and teachers, there was something else that he noticed. People that were more well off, were physically more able or had a higher standing in life seemed to be exceptions of this previous established rule. He had seen troublemakers whose parents donated quite a bit to the school be punished far less severe than those that came from a poor family. The smartest kid being physically harmed by stronger kids that did not want the kid to get a big head, and popular girls bullying a less pretty female into tears with sheer numbers, were but a few of the other sights he noticed.
After observing all these interactions, Hendrickson saw that each situation had one commonality, that being that the victims were all inferior. Whether it be physically, monetarily, mentally or socially, the instigators were all superior in at least one way. It was almost as if those that were born in a less fortunate situation had to pay a price for it in the form of being intimidated, humiliated and crushed. In some cases, not even the adults intervened depending on who harmed who. From these surveillances, Hendrickson could conclude that no matter how one acted or behaved, if they did not have any power backing them up then they would be stepped upon and thrown away at the worst of times.
This simple revelation defined his outlook on life and established his goal and lifestyle. While he stayed as polite as he had before, he did try his hardest to increase every aspect of power that he could get his hands on. He openly conversed with others in order to get into others their graces, he helped out at his parent's restaurant during the weekends to increase his capital, he added weight training to his schedule and studied more seriously in order to best others during tests. Occasionally he also tried to give off a feeling of intimidating and authority, and while it was a bit of a success with those his age and younger, the ones that were older than him were not impressed let alone influenced. However with age came experience and he was steadily capable of coming over as a charismatic young man with great aspirations to the future, while keeping himself grounded and refraining from acting arrogantly. He was supportive to those in need, and was in turn supported. He taught others, and was in turn taught. He volunteered to help whenever the school requested it, and in turn he received some small benefits to his social standing. Before long, his hunger for authority and superiority turned to the Pokémon that inhabit the world.
He had always had an eye on them and their existence, one could not even live under a rock and be ignorant about them, after all just about anyone and their grandmother owned at least one of those creatures. However, it wasn't until he found out that just about everything had a link to those beasts, no matter how small, that he fully investigated them in depth. What he found out had sent shivers down his spine and the more he found, the more he craved them. Jewels, food, marketing, clothes, technology. The critters had some influence in just about anything.
But the one thing that utterly and completely captivated him was their strength. Their abilities defied common sense, and just about any powerful trainer was a highly respected member of society. He wanted to be a part of that world. No. He wanted to stand on the top of that world, so that no one would be able to obstruct him in just about anything. Because of this, he had requested of his parents that he be allowed to go on a journey to collect the best specimens for his future. The pair had been quite reluctant about allowing him to go. While they didn't have as much time as they wished to spend with their child, both did love him from the bottom of their heart and just the thought of him leaving tore at them.
It was only when the teenager, his hair already cut short and dyed in his iconic unnatural colour, promised them that if the 'Pokémon business' did not work out for him that he would take over the restaurant as they always wanted. In fact he had compromised that he was utterly content with waiting with his journey and instead focus first on the promised job by attending a culinary school after his secondary schooling was finished. The added bonus of being able to cook an at least halfway decent meal rather than living on protein bars was something he did not have to mention.
Once he finally finished all of his studies at the age of 21, including a course in waiting tables just in case, the Novelton seniors had given their son a certain amount of money and two choices. He could either go to a breeder in the city to buy his very first Pokémon just like his father had done, or he could do as his mother and go out into the wild to catch his starter while he was accompanied by either parent. Hendrickson reaction to this revelation was to look at his mother incredulously, but then he remembered how his mother actually was and it made quite a bit of sense that she did such a thing. His remark had earned him a scathing look and a nervous chuckle from his father.
In the end he decided against going out into the wild and visited one of the breeders in Kotoba. Most of the creatures that he found there were not to his tastes. They were either too young, too docile for his tastes or simply looked like they couldn't be bothered to do anything but play with young children and waste their potential. In the end, there was only one specimen within the whole shop that grabbed his attention.
While the creature itself didn't look all that powerful, he found it quite intriguing that its entire species carried a wooden log around like it was the most natural thing to do. What made the creature so attractive in his eyes, was the mere fact that it had been training at the moment that he walked in and if he had to believe the attended at the time, the creature had been at it for quite some time. After inquiring a bit further he had found out the creature was a Timburr, and a violent one at that as it always challenged older and more experience Pokémon. It was exactly this drive to prove itself that Hendrickson sought in the creatures, and if no one else wanted it then he would be taking it with him. Even if the attendee was being slightly difficult with him acquiring the little critter.
Life with the addition of the Timburr was most certainly more hectic. The creature like to wake up before the sun rose and could always be seen training in whatever area he had the place. His parents loved the little guy's spirit, but the constant challenges it dished out to their older Pokémon were sometimes getting on their nerves. Especially the Pokémon that helped them around in the kitchen. There had also been the issue that the creature did not listen to a single word that Hendrickson said, not until he was actually able to assert his superiority over the Fight type and inform it of his goals. While the creature only understood the bare minimum of human speech, it could pick up on the meaning behind his words of grandeur and it fully stood behind this. The creature was just as ambitious and power hungry as its trainer, and the two would often get along in a strange way.
His journey would not be for another year and a half after acquiring the Timburr as he still had to take a test in order to become a legitimate Trainer that would allow him to own more and a single Pokémon. The Timburr would the first of many that would help him reach greatness. Even if he, and those same creatures, had to die trying.
