Birthday: December 20 183
Atrological Signs: Galloshutz the Rapidash, Year of the Electabuzz
Trainer Class: Lady
Allignment: Lawful Good
Weight: 112 lbs
Hair Color & Style: Elizabeth has light blond hair kept short and impeccably neat. Not so much as a single strand is permitted to stick out of place.
Eyes: Elizabeth's eyes are slightly narrow with light brown, amber-flecked irises. Her eyebrows are thin and short but sharply angled close to the inner edge.
Clothing/Accessories: Elizabeth's usual attire consists of a light blue shirt under a black jacket and black pants. She is very uncomfortable in anything less formal than this and also prefers pants to dresses and skirts. On occasion, she may change her pants for a black skirt that ends just below the knee but only formal occasions will compel her to wear a dress. Her usual shoes, though black, are flat and designed more for ease of travel than formality as a concession to her current lifestyle's needs. She also usually wears a narrow pair of thin-framed, rectangular glasses though for any sort of significant occasion she will change these for a pair of contacts. She doesn't usually wear much jewelery bar one exception; a silver charm bracelet with three charms on it: a golden caduceus and pair of Lumineon and a silver Woobat. She rarely removes this bracelet though it is generally hidden beneath the sleeve of her jacket and/or shirt.
When the weather is simply too hot to allow for her usual black attire she may change to a similar outfit in lighter colours and may even choose to lose the jacket but that is as far as her willingness to dress down for comfort will usually go. Conversely, in cold weather she will generally add on winter clothes more easily, starting with a scarf and gloves and from there adding on a hat and a winter coat and pants as needed.
General Appearance: Elizabeth is fair skinned as well as fair haired with no visible blemishes but her narrow, diamond-shaped face is often fixed in a severe frown or a disapproving grimace if she's feeling cheerful. Her lips are thin and frequently pursed and her narrow brow often wrinkles when she is annoyed, stressed or just deep in thought. She has a thin but somewhat prominent and rather pointed nose with a similarly thin and pointed chin resting above her long neck. Her ears are rather small and flat against her head.
She has a lean build, not an athlete's body but certainly not out of shape either. Her nails are kept short and straight and her hands are noticeably smooth and soft, lacking in any callouses or scars. Physically, she is not particularly imposing but her near perpetual frown can grant her an intimidating presence, especially in one on one confrontations.
Hometown: Union, Central Godai
Personality: Elizabeth aspires to be a consummate professional in everything she does and, at least for the most part, she is rather successful. She is almost always serious and level-headed, endeavoring to remain calm and deal with whatever comes her way as rationally and efficiently as possible, though this calm can be strained by repeated unforeseen setbacks or sufficiently outrageous surprises. She has very little sense of humor; she will often completely miss attempts to make jokes and even when she does catch them, she is most likely to be either annoyed or simply confused at the other person's refusal to be serious. Her speech is usually formal and technically polite but also somewhat blunt and straight to the point. She will entertain pleasantries and chitchat only as long as is absolutely necessary to be polite before getting down to business. This, combined with her stoic demeanor, can cause her to come off as rather cold and unfeeling.
This view of her, though understandable, is only partly true. While Elizabeth does typically choose to follow logic over emotions, this does not mean that she does not feel them or have any emotional ties to other people. The truth is that she is somewhat socially awkward, lacking any real ability to interact with other people beyond her usual, businesslike approach. This difficulty with establishing personal relationships leads her to have very little interest in forming them but what few close relationships she does have, she values greatly. At present, these relationships consist of her mother, her brother and her childhood friend. The former two she idolizes, especially her mother, while the third she values very much and is rather protective of.
Developing such a relationship with Elizabeth is extremely difficult for most, due to her lack of social skills. She is a little less formal with those who see sees as vulnerable, however. She has a strong sense of fair play and equality so upon seeing somebody being taken advantage of or suffering under some insurmountable disadvantage, she can't help but feel an urge to aid or protect them. While this initially only presents as being a touch more generous and open with them, this can provide an opening to develop a genuine friendship with her. She also can learn to get along with those who share her businesslike attitude and her sense of fairness. Repeated good dealings with her that prove to be in good faith can form the basis of a somewhat overly formal but still strong friendship with her.
When alone or with those few who have managed to get close to her, she is a great deal more relaxed. While she still doesn't have much of a sense of humor she doesn't begrudge it in those around her and is willing to slow down and take time to chat or have fun. She prefers those close to her to call her Eliza, though she would likely be rather offended if anybody else did without her permission. Even then, she stills maintains a rather serious and stoic demeanor but is noticeably less severe and cold.
Indeed, outside of her few close relationships, Elizabeth can be extremely harsh and critical of everyone and everything around her. While she does not intend to be openly insulting, it is very clear when she finds something to be lacking or offensive, as she cannot help but crinkle her nose and purse her lips even more than usual, and she finds virtually anything that isn't perfect to be offensive. She has mildly obsessive-compulsive tendencies and prefers to plan out every detail of everything she does and takes any failure or deviation from her plan almost as a personal attack against her. While she can usually take a few setbacks in stride aside from her initial feelings of irritation, repeated major problems can build up on her until they finally make her snap, completely losing her usual calm, completely abandoning whatever remains of her plan and relentlessly lambasting whoever is unfortunate enough to be a convenient target for her ire at the time. She is always extremely embarrassed by these lapses of control once she calms down and resolves to be better in the future but she has never quite been able to conquer her own temper.
Despite her desire to be completely professional and logical, those who get to know Elizabeth will learn that she has a hidden childish side beyond her temper tantrums. She has an extreme love of all things that she considers cute, though her definition of the term is very different to most people's. Her idea of cute tends to overlap with the common interpretation of creepy, something that irritates her to no end and causes her to try and conceal her feelings towards "cute" things when in public but in private she can actually be quite affectionate with whatever has appealed to her unorthodox sense of aesthetics. She also has an extremely strong sweet tooth and only strict self-control prevents her from gorging herself on sweets at every opportunity. When she does obtain something sweet, she rations it out for herself in minuscule portions. A large chocolate bar can last her weeks in this way and during that time, she will eagerly anticipate the time when she gets to eat her next allotment for hours in advance. While she generally tries to hide these traits, deeming them childish and embarrassing, she is nevertheless quite appreciative when she finds somebody else who shares her love of sweets and her sense of aesthetics, making her willing to drop her guard quite a bit around them.
While she does have great sympathy for the disadvantaged and the downtrodden, Elizabeth also highly respects the value of hard work. If there's one thing she hates more than seeing somebody stuck in a bad situation, it's seeing somebody in a bad situation refusing to do anything to change it. Laziness is a cardinal sin in her eyes and she can't stand people who are unwilling to work for their goals, especially if they then complain about their circumstances. Elizabeth herself is extremely goal oriented and throws herself 100% into whatever she does, perhaps even too much. She can suffer from tunnel vision in regards to her goals, focusing on them to the exclusion of all else and sometimes working herself to the point of exhaustion. Perhaps even more problematic is that she genuinely doesn't see this as a problem. So long as she doesn't suffer any serious, long-term harm, she is perfectly alright with shutting herself off from the world for days on end if that's what it takes to complete some task.
Elizabeth is very intelligent, with a particularly good head for numbers. This can feed into her obsessive traits however, as she often feels a need to measure and quantify everything she does with utmost precision. She can be somewhat dismissive of more artistic or open-ended subjects, preferring to deal with problems that have concrete solutions, devoid of any creative interpretation.
History: To understand Elizabeth we must first look at her mother, Cassandra Keller. Born the youngest of four children in a lower class, Arceist family in Durskrim Town, then Parchdry Port, Cassandra had to work for everything she got and work she did. She excelled in school, even while working a job to help support her family, and was the only one of her siblings not only to graduate secondary school but also to put herself through Godai State University. From there she didn't slow down one bit and set about moving to Union and starting her own company, Luminous Technologies, which grew quickly to become a significant player in the technology industry within ten years, albeit not one of its leaders. It was after this that Cassandra had two children by different fathers, first a son named Damian and then, eight years later, a daughter, Elizabeth.
Growing up, Elizabeth was a somewhat solitary child. Cassandra's work kept her busy at all times, her father, while on relatively good terms with both Cassandra and Elizabeth, was not a major presence in her life and her extended family, meanwhile, was somewhat distant, both geographically and emotionally. There was a not so subtle resentment of Cassandra's success on their part, even as they refused any offers of charity on her part, and that she had largely abandoned religion and had not one but two illegitimate children in violation of their religion caused relations to cool even further. She idolized her mother and tried to imitate her brusque behavior before she fully understood why Cassandra acted that way, rendering her rather intimidating to other children. She thus had no friends aside from her brother until after she started school.
Elizabeth and Damian were quite close, despite their age difference. Damian had inherited their mother's work ethic and intellect but was much more personable and empathic than his rather clinical mother and sister. Between his studies and his social life he was often too busy to spend nearly as much time with his sister as Elizabeth would have liked but when he did have time he was a rather doting older brother to her. It was he who gave her the charm bracelet that she almost constantly wears and the two golden charms on it, a caduceus representing his own ambition to become a doctor and two Lumineon, the logo of Luminous Technologies, to represent their mother. Having recognized that Elizabeth was rather lonely, he encouraged her to wear the bracelet as a reminder of the two people who would always be there for her if she needed them and to add more charms as she made friends, something that would become relevant sooner than she expected.
At first, Elizabeth's schooling seemed like it would be just as lonely as the rest of her life but then a chance encounter with one Aster Morgan changed that. Having come from humble beginnings herself, Cassandra had always impressed upon her children that anybody, even those with immense apparent disadvantages, could attain success and thus had the right to be treated with both sympathy and respect. Aster Morgan was born with mild brittle bone disease and immunodeficiency and severe asthma, causing her to stand out quite a bit. Sadly, Aster and Elizabeth's classmates did not share the latter's respect or sympathy for the disadvantaged and Aster was targeted by several classmates as a vulnerable target for bullying. Upon discovering this, Elizabeth immediately leaped to Aster's defense, constantly interposing herself between Aster and her would-be tormentors. The two inevitably began to form a friendship, helped along by their discovery of a shared love of non conventionally cute things, and over their years together in both elementary and secondary school, the two became largely inseparable. Elizabeth remained cold and intimidating towards others while Aster was too shy and introverted to try and befriend others but this only caused them to value their friendship with each other all the more highly.
While Elizabeth had always been interested only in following in her mother's footsteps and becoming a successful business giant, Aster had a great love of Pokémon and was determined to become a trainer in spite of her physical frailty. She became the first and so far only non-family member to give Elizabeth a charm for her bracelet, a Woobat, the Pokémon she intended to start a journey with after secondary school and Elizabeth took Pokémon training classes with her, finding much to her own surprise that she actually quite enjoyed it, though not enough to change her own career plans. Sadly, when the two girls were just entering their final year of secondary school, Aster's health took a turn for the worse. She was hospitalized after falling ill and it soon became apparent that there was a good chance she may never recover or even survive past a year or two. It was clear that going on a journey was simply no longer possible for Aster, at least not for the foreseeable future and possibly not ever. Though distraught, she tried to put on a brave face, reassuring Elizabeth that she would go on a journey when she recovered and pushing her to resume her own plans to go to Godai State University.
Elizabeth, however, was unhappy simply continuing on as if nothing had changed and she resolved that if Aster may not be able to live out her dream, Elizabeth would at least make sure that her friend got to experience as many of the experiences involved in that dream as possible, even if they could only be second hand. Thus it was that Elizabeth announced her plans to delay entering university and go on a journey of her own. Her mother was initially disapproving of this decision but after much arguing back and forth, with Damian often acting as an intermediary, Cassandra eventually recognized that this was not a choice Elizabeth was making lightly and decided that while she couldn't necessarily agree with Elizabeth's choice, she should still respect and support it. It was with that thought in mind that she agreed to pay for a Pokémon for Elizabeth to start her journey with, a Salandit that had caught Elizabeth's eye while she was researching possible choices.
