I'd have to go with Rousseau>How We Breathe > Diminished(lyrics are just astonishingly relevant to my life right now) > Loro>Crutch>3x0

Hi & welcome indeed! Enjoy.

The presence of some on this board goes up and down but always or nonetheless fanatic and with much love, deep feelings and appreciation for the music of Pinback!

By album

Shag
Manchuria
Boo
Grey machine
Sender
Devil you know
True north

Other important songs as b sides or on tour releases
Clemenceau
Serg
Sleep bath
Photograph taken

Every song of theirs is important to me and a milestone of music production in my opinion
Same goes for three mile pilot and systems officer
Anything Zach does becomes something I emulate and twist for my own music projects
It's how a bass is meant to be played

My favorite song is inner bishop by three mile pilot
On the side of the house.
Its burned in the ground.
That secret code.
That signal go.
There's a stain on the grass
That's calling us home
You lie inside for the
Transistor send.
My heart skips a beat.

I am glad to see someone actually browsing deep into the forum and bringing up old posts AND a zach fan! Wooo! I honestly can't choose just a few songs but I can tell you Boo would have to be one of them.

My favourite 3MP album is Chief Assassin. That album completely changed me as a person. Inner Bishop was one of those songs that forced me to re-evaluate my entire life. And Chenjesu is still THE song that defines me beyond any other collection of words. Im glad to see another true fan.

Chief assassin is amazing in terms of its experimental nature nothing sounds quite like it
Inner bishop is the cream of the crop though
Na vuccu do lupu has one step ladder and unicycle silencer both made me proud to be a bassist but I knew I'd have to study much harder
Starcontrol out had a noise track called inside the wash house that wasn't anything special but it was where chenjesu and inner bishop first appeared and the vinyl is out of print and tricky to find and will cost a few hundred dollars if you do
The gravity ep I actually tattooed the man holding the knife image on my fore arm and showed to pall jenkins one night at a black heart procession show
He was speechless and humbled that a fan would tattoo his art on their body
The best song on that album was either Tokyo static (son #8 inc.) or on a ship to Bangladesh which was fully composed by Zach the first systems officer song if you will with pall lending his vocal support
Another desert another sea city of bones is my favorite track here but I also like Bolivia and longest day a lot
I think their songs from an old town we once knew is highly underrated comprised of b-sides and 7inch releases I picked it up for 9 dollars in 1999 at a San Diego off the record one of the perks of being from San Diego having these guys as a local talent it's just too bad I never got to see them live before they broke up and now that they had a few quick tours with the release of the inevitable past is the future forgotten I had moved to Minnesota before their regrouping and missed these shows
Oh sorrow
Songs from an old town best tracks are nussun the silver monkey syndicate this house is loss the trail in this town I awaken
The night I bought the album I took psychedelic mushrooms and pressed play
I was hooked faster than hook addicted fish
The newest album I really enjoy planets and battle and still alive

The day after I purchased songs from a new town I researched the band online and discovered then about the new formation of a band called pinback
I went back to off the record dropped another fifty dollars and picked up na vuccu do lupu chief assassin the gravity ep and this is a pinback cd

I had and have ear candy from that day forward

I saw pinback three times on their second tour that year and in 2001 I opened for them with my now defunct band treluna

Pinback is the air I breathe
On the side of the house.
Its burned in the ground.
That secret code.
That signal go.
There's a stain on the grass
That's calling us home
You lie inside for the
Transistor send.
My heart skips a beat.

I'm quite partial to Prog because it's the song that got me into Pinback. However; after reading all the responses, there are two tracks, which would certainly be included on my personal GREATEST HITS album, that surprisingly were not mentioned. They are: Sediment -&- 3X0

reviving an ancient thread but it just goes to show that even though they had a very recognizable sound throughout their entire discography and never did anything too crazy or epic or experimental (Grey Machine is an exception - but not even in my top 10), that they did create a wonderful variety of music. If your fans can't come up with a solid majority-rule list of their best songs, that's an incredible thing.

Personally, my favorite songs are:
Soaked
Sender
Syracuse
Torch
and my absolute favorite is Microtonic Wave.

A bit different from the lists I've seen so far in this thread.
