Here are some pictures I took of the dissasembly process for a 44 US
I updated my host. I hope these work.

Great pictures HD, wish I had that sequence before I disassembled my 2 M-44's. I didn't realize some had that headspace washer. Only problem was download time, and that's on my end, gotta get a cable modem or DSL. I never did get the endcaps off my bolts, while the bolt on my 142M came right apart, no amount of coaxing with liquid wrench, vice grips with leather or 400 grit paper would do the job on the M44's, and I didn't want to bugger it as some I have seen are, so gave up. Finally let them soak in mineral spirits for several days and blew them out with carb cleaner and compressed air then applied a light gunoil.

Thanks for sharing this.  I just picked up a nice Mossberg 44US and this is most helpful.  It's a shame that these forums don't see much traffic these days as there is a wealth of knowledge here!
