Hello all,

returned back home yesterday evening after 4 exciting days
in Tuscany, where we were invited to join the VII Meeting Club Panerai
in Viareggio, hosted by Piero Lapiana.

I was flying in on thursday afternoon around 4 p.m. Ralf and Jens
from northern germany arrived earlier and went by a rental car to
Montecatini Terme, to visit Francesco Ferretti in his shop. They
met his son and saw some nice vintage pieces. On their way back to
Viareggio they passed Pisa and picked me up at the airport, lucky me!

Okay. Checked in. Ready to start the party... time for the first coffee!!!
Delicious Espresso, the best for me in the world... good to be back at Claudio's hotel
"Club I Pini" in Lido di Camaiore, next to Viareggio.

Soon later Diego from Switzerland arrived, also "flying in" - but by Porsche! LOL

Nice afternoon view to the hotel building, a wonderful place.

To continue a tradition of the meetings in Viareggio, we walked a
few meters to the well known "Pizza Conti", where we found another
time some great food. A small family pizzeria where you can order
something which is shown in the display, getting it warmed up "caldo!"
instantly. Here, Ralf get back his change and an explanation
of italian language, capito?

Viareggio is famous for it's carnival season. On the top you can
see a huge mask which will be used during the parades, which are
celebrated since 1873 ("Burlamacco" is it's red-white mascot)

Later our host Piero Lapiana arrived at the hotel. Here we go
for a little group shot: Piero, Jens, Ralf, Graham and Diego.

Umberto Panzeri, watchmaker and technical assistance center for Rolex,
arrived soon later. He serviced a vintage Radiomir from Ralf with an excellent
result. Ralf was very happy to receive it after some weeks of waiting until it
was back in good shape. The result on the movement was stunning...!
Perfetto, Umberto!

In the evening Simona di Stefano joined our group as well and we had a very
good dinner at the hotel. Claudio and his crew served very well and Piero
was explaining us the wine for the courses, as he's a Somellier.

The conversations about vintage watches started and... never found an end - LOL!
Thankfully we had some helpful equippment at the table to check some objects of
our discussions very closely - Varnish? No varnish? Cracks? Color changes by what?

We are all lost... LOL!

Stay tuned for the 2nd part about our activities on friday.

Cheers and thanks for looking.
Volker

Volker

Hello all,

returned back home yesterday evening after 4 exciting days
in Tuscany, where we were invited to join the VII Meeting Club Panerai
in Viareggio, hosted by Piero Lapiana.
