Hey everyone it's been awhile since I posted on here, I was wondering if I can get some input on this topic. I have been lusting over a Pam for a year now, the time has finally come to pick one up. I'm looking preowned, I love the 111 and was going to buy it last year but decided to put the money else where. So here's my question, I am 100% in love with the 312 and I just love the 111, I have the money right now to buy a preowned 111 from an AD or should I keep saving for a few more months to get the 312?

Cheers,
Anthony

You can't go wrong with either one. Here's a question to ask yourself that might help you decide.
What do you prefer, manual wind or automatic movement?

If you settle now for the 111, you'll always regret it and wish you bought the 312.
Be patient and save - then buy the one that you REALLY want.

Cheers...

The wear quite differently. The 111 Luminor case site better on the wrist for me, and others around here. If this will be a daily wear watch you might consider this issue. I can wear my 312 a couple days a week and put 4-5 others in the rotation. I wonder if I had to wear my 312 almost everday how I would feel about it. I know the traditional Luminor case if comfy for the long run.

In terms of design both are very strong, but I think the 312 1950 case is glorious, super sophisticated dial, inhouse movement. I really like the overall look of the 312 as a design ocject.

111 is also one of my favs. In fact I am doing a wire transfer today to pick up a pre owned one.

Good Luck with your choice.

I have given this same advice many times, try to get some wrist time with the 312. Hands down, I love it, but I just couldn't get used to the 1950s case, it just sits too high (for me). Luminors sit flat, if that's possible for such bulk (!), but feels much better to me.

I thought that my next watch was going to be a 312, I wore it for three weeks and ended up with a 177 in my collection. Yes, it is totally different, but as you will quickly find, if you don't LOVE it (the 111 or the 312), you will regret it later-- Good luck! KH

I've had a 111 which was a daily wear for me, but now my 312 is on my wrist most of the time. It is a thicker watch, but very comfortable and sits well on the wrist.
I laso agree with the philosophy of "don't settle for less than what you really lust after".

You could always pick up a used 111 from the collector market, and when you have the extra money sell the 111 and pick up the 312. Just another option for you to consider. Best of Luck! Cant go wrong with either of them.

Auto's have that dang rotor wabble and date messing up the works. I speak from experience, bought a 104 instead of a 1 back in the day and then couldn't get rid of it fast enough to get the 1 and I never looked back. As far as I'm concerned the manual wind is one of the most endearing items of a Panerai. So tactile and it keeps you connected to the watch.

Great suggestion, just a quick search in Collectors revealed a 111 for about $4k and a $312 for about $6k . . . done-- KH
