I am not an expert so probably wrong.. but all the ones I have personaly seen through the years and have photos of are the one you describe.. I believe it was made by another company and not Ciampi, and Panerai were not happy with the quality and never ordered anything else from them.. I am sure I've read that many years ago on the forum.

BUT I have an interesting photo though from someone (again i cannot give credit as i don't know who took the photo) claiming that those were 201/a straps..

Middle one and Sharky are the usual.. Probably you mean the one on the very left? Same strap as the 202/a but with steel buckle?

the other long limp phallus ones are those that didn't pass the waterproof stretch test and were rejected. A few enterprising PreV sellers early in the game snatched all of them up and have been trying to convince us cognoscenti that it is the correct strap that came with a 201/A in the box. I'm not buying it.

This is the right strap boys if you want to get down to the brass tacks of it, thats my opinion and I am sticking to it

Almost all the ones I've seen for sale all those years, from friends and photos have the 'phallus' one as second :P

If the standard is the one you showed were are they? You can hardly see them in real life, the forum in photos or for sale?

doesn't really look tan wich may be due to the aging (patina) of the strap, so there I started to doubt..Your close up pick of the buckle reveals it to be a Dirk and NOT a PreV..Those are buckles that were rejected by PANERAI and used by Dirk when the company went bankrupt to make his Dirk straps. There is a topic in the archives about buckles you can check.

Looks like from the photo.. the pin looks pointy and not roundy like the pre-v.. Plus the A have lower bars..

Nevertheless here are 2 photos of 201/a I have found with a tan strap.. But you cant tell for sure whan on a watch what kind of strap it really is..

I have more than 30 photos in my archive that show set of 201/a for sale or photographed with the Skarkie and the LONG Spongy strap... Not one with a tan.

Looks to be a Dirk buckle..Just look at the 2nd A of panerAi..It's positioned to much to the left to be PreV and the engraving seems very RAW...

Some 'tard punched another hole in this one as well. Their tan back in the day was Cognac, enough sweat made the strap turn maroon like the 202A and 203A straps did
