Please help, I just purchased a PAM 25, and there are two things that seam strange about the watch:

1) when adjusting the date, the watch pings in the middle of the date change, and the date does not seem to fall into place like I would expect

2) the forward mounted rubber strap squeaks when moved because it contacts the watch body, bottom strap does not

I just paid $6400 for it with box and papers, so your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad

Correction, the strap does not rub on the body, rather it just seems tight between the posts and does in fact squeak when moved back and forth.

I don't have a sub but that looks stellar to my eyes... wait until one of the experts chimes in but I think that you are good.

Ok thanks, but when changing the date, should the number not click into place? Changing the date on my watch feels linear, and the number doesn't seem to stop, or index, into place. Is this just how they are, or maybe the movement is fake. It's an M build.

And it makes a little spring twang noise when changing the date. . . any feedback on this, or do I have to wait to take it in to my watch guy tomorrow?

Thanks,

Brad

The watch looks legit. Not sure about the date. Probably normal.

I have seen a myriad of date issues/anomalies over the years.

Good luck.

Thank you for all of the replies! I wrote to the seller and he replied quickly. He said that the date and time were set when the watch left his store, and that the functions were ok at that time, and to always set the time to 6:30 before changing the date for an automatic watch. Is this strongly recommended for a Panerai? He also said that his warranty was void if the watch was opened. Is this a typical warranty limitation for a non authorized dealer? I'm taking it in for an inspection this afternoon.

Thank you again.

My watch guy says that it's an authentic Panerai watch, and that the date adjustment is normal for this movement. I can stop sweating now. Thanks to everyone that responded!

My 88 did a little slipping type thing once I accidentally set the date at 11pm--thinking I was in the a.m.....no permanent damage was done at all, but it's best to be careful me thinks.
