My first trip to The Gambia although Jo has been many times and built a house there........

Annie chilling on the verandah

A little fishing trip, compliments of David from Footsteps, resulting in a tasty snapper for supper. As you can see we had to fight through the crowds!

A 20 mins walk from the house brings you to the beach with the only 'development' a beach bar run by Mustapha.

An hours walk along the beach and the view gets even better and the beer colder.....

We had a great trip along the Allehein River to Senegal in a dug out canoe

We were the only ones on the River - except the birds of course

There were hundreds of different birds but this one of the Pied Kingfisher was the best shot of the day

Amadou picked up a rather large sea snail (apparently they salt, boil and then eat them)

Luckily our lunch was a little more appetising!

(Apologies for minimal photos not up to the usual standard as we had to borrow a point and shoot due to leaving a taxi minus GF1 on day 3 )

Thanks for looking

Paul

Now this doesn't look like the typical touristic africa vacation.
Thank you for sharing your adventure Joe & Paul.
Sea snail looks like a challange from Endemol's TV-jungle camp.
Did you have tried?

Been there twice. The first time in 1983(!) was fantastic and then over a decade later it was more 'interesting' as there was a Coup d'etat shortly after we left.

Nothing to do with us I hasten to add.
