.....so my son (13 years old) just started kick boxing a couple of months ago .....He was looking forward to his first tournament and booked in as a beginner !!....Unfortunately ........he got drawn against the other clubs resident 'champ' ......same age.......but been kick boxing eight years and has had a Black Belt for four of those .......My lad is in the Red helmet .......to be fair .....he DID keep coming back for more punishment and said he really enjoyed it !!!......

I think we need to work on his defence and boxin though

He looks like he has potential, but Yes, he is taking the "Kick" part as the primary attack. In time he will know how to set it up with some jabs and not lead as often with the foot.
He does have some power behind them though.

fine. tell him not to back his head out when he punches, it will give him more balance. reminds me of the early days when i was in the arts, lots of sparring, lots of getting my @$$ kicked and returning the favor every now and then. it's great exercise, enjoy

He did really well Ade ,

I know only too well how that learning curve works . I did`nt start till much older than Jude but when living in London Kick Boxed with the Brixton Vipers and after with Dominique Valera at RD Sporting Club in Strasbourg St. Denis for several years when living in Paris.

It is a fantastic workout .

Jude`s footwork is excellent and once he learns to box more and how to combine the punches with the kicks he will be flying .

Brings back lots of good memories !!!

Cheers,
Vic
