I changed my 448 for the 249 without regret.
Why:
- thickness of the case
- the dial looks less large .
- the hands look the same but appear more bleu on the cali249.
-i do not like the engraved case " Vintage "

Both great pieces but the 249 edges it for me.
Numbers on the 448 just seem a little fatter, almost a bit 'bubbly'?!
But if someone offered me a 448, I'd certainly take it!

that old piece on the left is the cat's meow.

As for the two Cali's... I kinda like the dial of the 249 a bit more. Also, I think OP went overboard with the ecru lume on the 448.
