hey, i have a question: am i likely to remove the anti-reflective coating on my watch if i am using a napkin/tissue/shirt/sleeve/tie to polish it during the day a bunch of times? not rubbing crazy hard, but every once in a while i notice a smudge and ill rinse and dry with whatever is around.

i don't carry the polishing cloth so it's usually a napkin or part of my wardrobe.

also, notice that my older breitling is more prone to smudges and occasionally looks like the glass has different areas that reflect a little differently than my pam. the breitling is a super ocean pro from 99 and bought pre-owned - so i am thinking some of the coating has rubbed off and i guess i am wondering if i can avoid doing the same to my 312.

and if this is the case can it be re-cpated or does it need a new crystal?

thanks!!!

The Panerai AR is only on the inside of the crystal, so no worries rubbing it clean. Your Breitling has it on both sides of the crystal, which makes it look almost invisible when pristine, but (in my opinion) can look really bad of the outer AR gets scratched or smudged.

Might look better at this point to Cape Cod the outer AR off for uniformity.

it must be coming off in patches cause sometimes it looks like "dried soap" film on parts of the crystal

does that make sense?

or maybe it's just soap???

Will look 1000% better and much easier and cheaper than having the crystal replaced. Cape cod cloths will take it off very easily.

Breitling will re-coat it next service anyway, so may as well.
