I just received the 422. The addition of the seconds subdial and the dial marking of luminor marina and panerai add a certain amount of balance when compared to the 372 which i also own.
personally i prefer the sapphire crystal, subseconds dial with reset, reserve time on back and dial configuration.

I felt the same way trying them both on. Couldn't agree with you more about the sense of balance the 422 as compared to the 372.

and I truly prefer it to the 372...

I am super happy for the people that wanted the fiddy base, and glad Panerai made it...but for me, the 422 is just beautiful..

One distinct thing I noticed, was that the sub-seconds looks quite a bit smaller in the flesh, that it does in the promotional pics..

I think your right on. I am hoping to pick up a 422 some time next year. Hoping the pre owned market will be active.
