Thought you might like to see this.  Knapped with some friends north of Dallas today.  One of them gave me a piece of Mookaite to play with.  Got this twisted Ross Hopewell preform made out of it.  Just gotta finish the edge work and notch it.

I figured it out, Flint ridge Ohio dove tail hooked up with a camo reeds Springs pandale and had a twisted mookite Ross. Yea, that makes sense. Looking good Curtis!!!!

That's some killer work Curtis! And a killer rock. Was you shooting for twisted or is that what the rock gave you?

Thanks Catfish.  The raw chunk of Mookaite was somewhat tabular about 2 inches thick and triangular.  Toward the narrow end there was a natural crack running vertically that was slanted diagonally through the piece .  So I want to work out the crack but maintain the width as best I could.  That caused the piece to twist some but I could have worked it out.  Once I got the crack worked out and the piece partially bifaced I had to decide what I wanted to make.  I remember seeing some of Woody Bkackwell's twisted percussion Decaturs and figured that it would be fun to do something similar with this piece.

Nicely thinned! Wish I could do that kind of work. Really lovely material.
