First Annual!

THUNDER RIDGE PRIMITIVE SKILLS MEET and CAMPOUT in Arnolds Valley, VA.

July 13th, 14th and 15th, 2018.

Hopper Creek Group Campground in the Glenwood District of the George Washington/Jefferson National Forest in Rockbridge County, VA.

Come join us for the weekend of July 13, 14 and 15 of 2018 for the First Annual Thunder Ridge Primitive Skills Meet and Campout.

This is the successor event to the House Mountain Knap-In. The House Mtn event has been discontinued. Unlike House Mtn., this event will be held in a public campground on the National Forest that has been reserved for our use only. The amenities and grounds associated with the old event are gone. In their place we now have a beautiful camping area in the National Forest. This area is stunning with mountain streams all over, lots of open mown ground, big trees and shade, space for dozens of tents, tables and shelters, a huge fire ring and a public vault toilet. No hookups here but room for popups and small trailers on the access road.

No admission but contributions toward the modest rent fees for the grounds will be accepted. Things will be opened up Friday July 13th at 11 am and closed Monday the 16th at 11 am.

Participants will want to bring all provisions. We will provide iced down water and drinks. We suggest you bring all the food you need, and drinking water. If we receive enough confirmations we may plan a Saturday evening meal.

There is a spring nearby with piped water(Elk Creek) ,and a great country store within a few miles.

Bring: Insect spray, wood to burn (Va origin only), food, water, shelter, things to work on and show, and good time intentions.

Leave:muscle dogs, illegal substances, loud things.

Feel free to contact co-hosts Bill Seebeck and Pete Davis at 540-462-7488 with questions not answered here.

We may organize field trips to nearby jasper and quartzite quarries for educational purposes, if there is interest.

Pottery firing Saturday night at the ring.

Let's all show the USFS that we are true stewards. Consider bringing trash bags and taking away all that you bring in.
