Just found this site. Still looking around. I am from New Jersey, Ocean and Burlington County Border. I guess you could say I am a PINEY lol! I just became a member of a mycological group too(spelling?) that go mushroom hunting out in Wharton and Bass River forest but mostly up in Essex County. I have yet to go but am real interested in learning survival skills. I am married with 4 kids so just to put it straight up, I like conversation and sharing knowledge not looking for anything else! The internet can be a bit scarey. I don't want to offend anyone, just looking for friendly conversation and knowledge sharing, if you find this comment strange, it is because on another forum someone writing back and forth to me about horticulture, gave me bad vibes and he mistakenly thought we were "connecting on another level"! So, now I am a bit more cautious!

Hi,

Im a beginner flintknapper from northern Nj. Also was curious to find other knappers in the area that might give me some instruction or pointers. Ive always been interested from the time I was young, and attempted flintknapping as a young adult. Now that I'm older, I decided to try my hand at it again, and have been pleasantly suprised at the few points Ive managed to make!
Does anyone from NJ go find your own stone or mostly order it from suppliers? Im really interested in being able to find my own flint, and complete the entire process from start to finish. If you dont mind, Id be interested in learning the best way to find flint.
Thanks for any information.

Hello all,
Another Jersey boy here. I am from south jersey around the Deptford/Woodbury area. Just found this site while looking at videos on Flint knapping on You Tube and figured I can use some more help.

Anyone feel like an archery meetup in the next few weeks? Maybe in the Deptford area, since we have a few people from around there already?

It might be best if you posted this question in the flintknapping forum as well - I guess way more people will see it there.
