steve i couldnt send pics via pm...but anyway here is some pics of the quartz i was talking about this is what i collected on monday...some of them are large piece 10 plus inches there is way bigger pieces down in the field yet if you want to come get them or just what till the next meeting either way and again i do not know what quality it is but i would think its pretty slick looking but i also really never knapped with wood before..let me know

That stuff actually looks like Dolomite, which is kind of a cherty limestone. It will flake but its not quartzite.  Bring some to the next meeting which should be Mar 25th.

makes sense there is limestone everywhere...yeah i have found many ancient points made from it down in the field

Curious material. Try it and let us know how well it works. It's no quartzite. The two sources of quartzite that I know of are Silver Mound by Hixton WI and the Spanish diggings in Wyoming. The grain of what you have seems too fine and uniform to be quartzite. But if the old people used, I expect it should work ok. It seems to have some nice color to it.

That looks like tuff, the material used by folk in the Neolithic to make beautiful ground stone axes (or greenstone axes if you prefer)!
