This is a very winnable game.   Fresno St. is 2-5.   Real time RPI has us as 81-65 losers.   Ridiculous spread.  Fresno St has two wins..... versus 2-5 Eastern Washington by 81-56 and 1-7 UCSB 64-57.    Losses to power house Arizona St are understandable, as well as losses on the road to 5-2 and 6-2 Texas Arlington and Texas St.   The other two losses were to 2-7 UC Riverside by 12 at home and to 2-6 Northridge on the road by 13.    We should actually be a slight favorite or even odds........ While two of our wins were to teams with losing records, the third was to a team with a winning record.

According to Jeff Sagarin's Women's ratings....... #178  Lamar is 1-4;  Yet Pacific is 3-3 and #260????  BYU 3-4 and #190;  Fresno St is #249 ???
Unless they (Lamar) beat Connecticut ......how can a team beat them and be ranked 82 + spots below them???? Sac St is 1-6 and #206; CS-N 2-6 and #233; while UC-Riv is 2-7 and #192!  Ref's keeping the game civil....no wrestling matches or body blocks... and we do have a chance!

We have been victimized by a lot of uncalled elbows and shoves this year, winning 3 and losing one of those games.   We have also had a number of phantom fouls where opponents tripped over their own feet from where I and the rest of the crowd were sitting.   Players surprise at having the fouls called seemed real.   Refs in some of our games had some really quick whistles for jump balls that hurt us as well.  Some weren't jump balls IMO.   So far the refs haven't cost us any games and the teams we lost to solidly beat us because of poor defense and 3 shooting.

Regarding the ratings.... the don't count games versus what the think are Division II or III games.   A number of different times after Davis became a D I team they didnt count wins against them.  Same with Sac St. after the Big Sky became D I.   In looking at their schedule, games versus actual D II and below teams were not counted.   In addition, they played #3 Baylor and Purdue where our biggest games were Davis and Brown and would be ranked higher based on strength of opponents.   Lamar was a pretty good team but they got away with a lot the refs didn't call or called the other way.

I think we can win versus Fresno if we cut down on our mistakes not only in allowing open 3s but in turnovers.   We are sooooo overdue to have a decent 3 shooting game ourselves.   We recruited all these gals who can supposedly shoot the 3 and they just haven't delivered when it counted.    Hopefully they will find the range by start of conference.

Kee rap.    Down by 7 at the half.   1-7 from 3 range to 6-15 for the Dogs......13 turnovers in the first half.......Now down by 19 in the final period with the same old story of no 3 defense and no 3 offense......2-12 for us and 10-21 for them.....18 turnovers for us to 13 by them....

Another poor team performance on both sides of the ball.   81-70 loss may have beaten the spread, but it was that close because the Dogs took their foot off the pedal and coasted home.    We hit 4-19 3s to their 11-23......The coaches have got to do a better job of getting the gals ready to play.  The video kept going out all game but this game wasn't nearly as close to the score at the end.  To many open 3s and unobstructed trips to the basket when I did have a connection.  The Dogs had two of their best players unable to play tonight.    We made things worse by hitting a poor 57% of our free throws.   The turnovers evened out a bit at 19 to 16 but 19 is way to many for our style of play when we are the ones who need to create them on the part of others and hold onto the ball when we have it.    The Dogs had 17 steals out of our 19 turnovers.    Still no Fadal or Parker.

Yeah, I saw the 2nd quarter and part of the third and the middle of the 4th quarter.... as video kept disappearing.  Agree with your main points...however, Women's basketball has many divisions...and the Mountain West like the Big 12 are for BANGERS.....lots and lots of muscle shoves, pushes and shenanigans going for loose balls....the more aggressive you are the less fouls called.   Oklahoma's coach admitted as much, watching Gu win its opening round game....she sort of felt sorry for GU...even said, they probably aren't ready for the rough and tumble Big 12 style of play.   Boxing out, doesn't mean shoving your opposition to the floor.... loved Finnie's fore-arm block on FSU guard in 4th, finally tired of all the bumps and shoves....she just flat out leveled that Guard!  Good for Desire.   Grant has got to improve her shooting.... a post either puts up a soft shot, hook or otherwise that just clears the rim and gets net  or  they put up a hard shot, using the BB's square.......Grant throws up hard 'prayers'....in no particular direction...usually clanging of back rim or the backboard, NO WHERE NEAR THE square!   McDavid, did better once she got use to the 'street' game.  Sumsion plugs along...another 9 RB's ....  GLS seemed poised, and Finnie was playing fairly good D.... Don't think King or Newman really have a role yet....Lidy... I'm still baffled with her playing time, 12 minutes this game.   Blakeslee... 17 minutes of Blaehhh... 1 RB 2 Assists......zero scoring.   Li' played hard, did fairly well, but 5 To's and 3 A.   GLS had 4 A, and 3 TO's.  Finnie 6 RB and 1 TO with 9 pts, but two of her 3 Three PT attempts were in and out!
I still get the impression...that there's not much to the offensive sets...a few perimeter passes and no one seems to be moving or spacing themselves for passes, screens or give and go's...... I see 3 or 4 people standing holding down the floor on their spot! I saw more effort this game, especially from the two seniors and our Junior (Li') ........  Hopefully Dropbear will have some organized thought on the 'game plan'......
