It is not Telikom that is blocking but rather, Datec & the other ISPs as well. They realize that Telikom being an Internet Wholesaler is also competing with them at the retail market through Telinet (EVDO, Axcess, ADSL, Wimax)so they decided to block email access via Telikom.

Best solution, create a new email using google, yahoo etc or use a anonymous proxy.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!! Go Digicel!!!!!! Try it, you'll find that Digicel wireless doesn't ever block Datec or any of the other PNG ISP e-mail access.

Telikom still think it's the bully on the block because you'll always get this block on Telinet wireless!

Leave Telinet behind and get on board a modern communications system. Digicel rules in PNG!!!!!!

Oh, you mean to hook up with Digicel modem is the best internet service? NO, you´re outta your mind. Telikom internet connection is still the best, although we have no choice, I reckon Telikom is the way to go for now if you want faster and efficient internet service.

Do you think anyone in any of their support teams could provide a coherent answer? Especially Telikom. They employ people who they give a short term training course to and then throw them out to the public, thinking that they'll be able to handle all the questions. Instead they look dumb and stupid because they can't answer anything that the customers couldn't figure out for themselves!

you forgot the original point (obviously)

The original point is that Telikom doesn't let customers access e-mail addies from other ISPs on their network. They are playing small child games. Digicel doesn't feel they have to muzzle the competition, they welcome it and that's why they're ahead.

Either Telenet is using out of date software and proxy configurations or they're trying to show us who's boss.

Digicel internet is available everyplace where Digicel wireless is available. Digicel serves the rural people and small towns of PNG. Telenet seems only to be worried about the big city people that's why you'll never get telenet service very far outside those areas.

Digicel rulz.

Guys, to put things into perspective,

Telinet has a range of public IP (Internet Protocol) addresses which it leases to connected customers be it via Axcess, CDMA, Wimax etc which allows you to connect to the internet. The local ISPs including datec have decided to disallow POP/Webmail access requests coming from any of these addresses. The reason, being that they want their customers to connect to the internet through them, say via dial-up etc.

Therefore, it is not telikom's fault but a mere competitive game platyed by the ISPs.

About Digicel's Internet being superior, consider this:

EVDO USB Modem @ 1000 kbps (average speed depending on users onlin,e could be more or less)
Digicel Dongle @ 100 kbps (10x less than Telikom)

Price wise,
Telikom 40t / MB
Digicel 1.99 / MB.

I don't have to brag on further. Yu yet skelim.
