Princes,good question.
The the reason PNGeans sound similar to Solomons or vice versa is because of the computerised studios they use, these studios have softwares that can make anyone sound like Elvis,Chris Brown,Akon,Jamaican Rappers,Shaggy,Emminem,UB40 and so on.
That's why some PNG and Solomon Island groups sound like Akon,Chris brown,Shaggy,Jamaican Rappers etc-They all sound simillar/same because they use the same technology.
The recording softwares can give you anything like that echo-robotic voice of Akon which Sharzy and many Island artists use. Any ugly voice can get transformed and sound like an angel in an instant.
The voices you hear in the PNG/Solomon audio albums today are fake-not natural. All programmed.
Even during live performances,artists/bands use these softwares, connecting them from a laptop or an electronic gadget on the stage just to make their voices sound like the ones on their albums.

So THE REASON THEIR VOICES or MUSIC SOUND SIMILAR IS BECAUSE THEY ALL USE THE SAME SOFTWARES,TO PROGRAMME THEIR MUSIC,ITS AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET

Click or COPY and PASTE this link below and listen to ONETOX of Solomon Islands sounding exactly like UB40.
The singer's voice sounds exactly like UB40 singer,ALI CAMPBELL,because of these softwares.

This doesn't sound like art. It sounds like copycatting and nothing original or creative.

So much for PNG music being one of the 'arts'.

That UB40 cover is a big big joke.Very embarrassing. It shows that we don't have talents.
We are only good in ripping music customers by selling them immitations.
Immitating and copying someone else's trade mark music, voice, and sounds using the recording the software. It's a joke.No wonder our music is going no where.

Autotune is use by todays Malenesian artists-non-Talented ones.
Automatic tuning, or auto-tuning is used by singers to correct "mistakes" or wrong notes in a singers voice or even musical instruments when being recorded. When used properly, it can take a recording of a person's voice who is not able to sing, and tune it so that it appears that they can actually sing. Not only can it be used to change notes, tune and pitch, it can be used to extend notes and distort the voice. Its use has been criticised by many people in the music industry.

I think wat Princess was trying to say was the PNG artists are starting to use Solo lingo esp. the SI tok pisin in their songs instead of sticking to our roots original tok pisin and be proud of it. In addition to the sound software or what not they are all using, its hard nowadays to know whether we r listening to our wantoks or the wantoks form the Solomons!

Peace...
