It sure looks like it. It starts like a public information bulletin, and then has witness reports.
But the BF safety tips are just the most basic camping tips, and the links are all self-promotion.
Then the whole thing turns into some kind of a tongue-in-cheek attempt at a joke, an easy way to dismiss the whole subject of public recognition.

Although it disguises itself as a public service announcement about loss of forest, I still get a funny sense there is more to it.
Possibly it is a trial balloon, and they want to test public reaction, like the Pentagon's CNN release last month of a USAF fighter cockpit video of a UFO.

Maybe this will bring them more real BF witness reports, and thats what it is really for.
Maybe it is intended to discourage witness reports; or maybe they just cannot see how their ridicule affects real witnesses willingness to come forward and report.
Or maybe they're just not that smart. )

It's just more BS.

Published on April Fools again and if that is not a dead giveaway, their claim to have a U.S. Forest Service Mythical Wildlife Division is laughable.

They look like idiots.

Not only was it posted on April 1st, but there is the statement, "For more information please visit, www.ThisWasAnAprilFoolsDayJoke.fs.fed.us," in the article.
