I had a great start to this cycle of an fsh of 2! But as it has gone,on my estrogen will once again not rise. So depressed and at a loss as time ticks by and only have a cycle or two left before I’m done with Checks protocol. After that I will have to try naturally as I won’t have the funds to test every week.

I’m thinking of trying Chinese medicine when insurance runs out. I’m still on DHEA 25mg. Thinking of upping that too.

Looking for any other ideas of things I could try after insurance runs out. Or any ideas during remaining cycles of what to do to get things moving with estrogen. Any help appreciated!!!

hi Barb!
I am so sorry things are hard. I know these feelings so well and feel your pain...

Are you taking ethinyl estradiol for your protocols? The only thing i can think of is maybe a change of meds-will dr Check be willing to try estrace or bcp with you?

I don't know anything about Chinese Medicine but i have heard of success stories of women using it so maybe it is a good idea to try when you finish with your treatments. I am not sure about doing the two together.
As for DHEA i am also taking 25mg of it. Things are so controversial about it, i decided to keep my dose to the lowest-but hey that is my thinking, i don't know if its the right one.

I hope things change for the better Barb. My hormones are really screwed up this cycle too.

Good luckxxx

Just throwing in my CM experience—
I’ve had amazing progress with the electric Accupuncture.
I tried it this cycle 3 times a week for the 2 weeks of stims.
My best numbers as far as eggs responding retrieved and fertilized.
In the past I would have 3-5 retrieved- this time 7 with 6 mature. Previously 2 was max fertilized this time 4.
Also my highest E2 per follicle -triggers at 1217. Previously highest was 800 something.
Good luck!

I would be open to donor embryos but unfortunately my husband is not open to that option.

Hi Joy-
So good to hear from you again. I had asked his office about other options and they just say to keep going and to be expected that some cycles won’t have ovulation. That would be fine if I had more time or money but am running out of both.

I may just have them end this cycle to conserve some dollars since e2 isn’t rising, depending on how my numbers look on Thiursday. Doesn’t help that I had strep last eeek either. I feel like my body was focused on dealing with that.

Hugs to you and hoping things turn around for you as well.

I like acupuncture and did it, but saw no real response except for when I did it actually during the cycle. So, if you are trying to conserve funds, I would do it during cycle and after transfer only. I found it to be quite expensive.

I can't offer much on DHEA, one of my docs said they had seen some improvement with it, but I personally found no improvement so didn't take it much.

If your estrogen is not rising appropriately by your next appointment, I would probably cancel and conserve funds for your next cycle.

I agree that sometimes you will respond poorly, sometimes better, with no rhyme or reason. Sometimes even using the exact same protocol. Unfortunately, with poor responders, it seems to be a numbers game.

Take a year off from all this. Do not even mention a baby, then see if HE mentions a baby then discuss donor options. He needs a year to digest the options.

Catching that golden egg when you're severe DOR/POF is unfortunately a waiting game. Which some of us don't have. The only thing I would recommend is HGH, but I know Dr. Check can't prescribe it for off-label purposes (something about NJ laws that prevent off-label use). There are other clinics you could try if you're done with Cooper for good, like Hanabusa (though you would be completely OOP), and CNY (which I think has a philosophy that every patient has a right to try IVF with own eggs at least once).

You could also try these other supplements, if you aren't already taking them. These are for egg quality, rather than quantity, and you need to take them for at least 3 month to see results (if any):

Pycnogenol, 100mg
Trans-resveratrol, 500mg
Melatonin, 3mg
Mitochondrial Energy Optimizer (Life Extension), 4 capsules per day
Vitamin D3, 4,000iu
CoQ10, 300mg+ (Ubiquinol is best)
Vitamin E, 200iu
Vitamin C, 500mg
Folate, up to 4,000mcg
N-Acetyl L-Cysteine, 600mg
