Last week, I went if for my day 3 and my fsh was 30 (I'm on BCPS), he had me go back on again and today I did my day 3 and it is 80. How is that possible. Could it be the BCP's and all the meds I've been taking for the last 9 months has screwed me up or is it the end of the road for me????

BTW again, I had not Antral Follies.

Thanks GraceRose

Take a break from all of these. you have been under a lot of stress lately. BCP cannot make your FSH to go up, it is just opposite. (At least in theory). Give it a rest for a month or two. Were you sick lately with flu or cold? It could provoke FSH spike too.

Nobody could tell you now where you are standing in terms of fertility. One spike (even so dramatic) in FSH doesn't mean anything. Just let your body to handle all of this on its own terms.

If you are approaching peri-men it is not an abrupt process but gradual one. if you have relatively low/slightly elevated FSH lately, this spike could only indicate that something else upset your hormonal balance just recently. Stress, illness, even change in weather.

I have been sick and have been on heavy duty antibiotics - could that have an effect?

it falsely lowers it and then when the 'suppression' is removed, it can cause a big jump. You would need to measure it after a cycle without the BCP's.

Hugs and Luck to you.

sort of the samething happened to me. My fsh was in the low 20s, then after estrace and progesterone induced AF in shot up to 68 [highest ever]. My RE and acu said to also remember [for me anyway] it wasnt a standard 'cycle day 2 fsh' - your fsh flucuates through out the course of the month...
hang in there!
hugs w07

If the second reading wasn't actually on CD3 then it shouldn't be interpreted as a day 3 reading. [But on the other hand, even a mid-cycle level of 80 is not good news. However, the number is not as readily interpretable.]

As for the high FSH reading, sounds screwy to me if you've been on meds etc, but just to give you some hope, here are some over 40 super high FSH success stories:

Toni (age 41.11, FSH 110) http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1169529700/ plus a DS conceived naturally at 40 http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1162921865/

CH41 (age 41, FSH 107) http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1138756210/ http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1109313649/

And some under 40 successes too:

Kat (age 32, FSH 122) http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1170367360/ plus a DD conceived at about 30 http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1118748464

Friend of Ann's (age 39, FSH 123) http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/m ... 1140207029/

Cheryl in DE (age 33, FSH 94.4) http://www.network54.com/Forum/264844/thread/1158418706/

MichelleeNJ (age 27, FSH 164) http://www.network54.com/Forum/233689/m ... 1105735897

Marci (ages 27, 29, & 38 - 3 kids despite POF - FSH 178) http://www.network54.com/Forum/209394/m ... 1119428128/

Hang in there, and good luck!

At the beginning which was 7 months ago,I was shock to be told that was it, no kid. I was misleaded by my OBGYN on when I was 39 that people gave birth close to 50, I thought as long as you have period, you are good to go. Of course, DH did not really want to take the step everytime I mentioned kids until I made up my mind last year when I felt not to push it to 50. Isn't it the dumbest thing you've ever heard? I have no child, never TTC until 43.

Then I was jumping and hoffing, digging around starting the baby making operation, determined to make it.

Now I am numbed. I am preparing for letting go of my dream to get ready for DE + Seragate. What am I going to do?

I can say I am a loser. Everybody here tries very hard and for way longer time.

I'd think everybody has better chance, deserves a kid of her own more than I do. I don't know how old are you. I believe after many reading and see Dr. check that age is way more important than FSH reading. if you are young, have everything else checked, I believe your chance is very good. Just my 2 cents

for all your responses and support. As always this board is a comfort when your "fertility world" is upside down.
