I believe Charles is entitled to wear a tartan as the family does have ties to Scotland; his Great Grandfather was the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. They lived in Glamis Castle which is well worth a visit if ever you find yourself in that area of Scotland. (The Queen Mother's childhood home).
If you happen to be a Craig Ferguson fan, this week he is broadcasting his Scottish tour and he was at Glamis Castle the other night.
